GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently through:

Performance

• Performing various hair services, including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieving or surpassing a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets through excellent guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintaining consistent attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serving all guests promptly and efficiently.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establishing professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attending mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Following safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures in accordance with state guidelines.
• Adhering to established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards within the store.
• Following the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Performing other operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Previous relevant work experience required
