GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality professional services focused on the guest's overall look. The role supports the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by focusing on performance (sales, productivity), people (guest service), and process (procedures and compliance). A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

The Master Stylist exemplifies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and all other assigned projects:

Performance

• Perform a variety of hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets through excellent guest service, contributing to store goals in retail, service sales, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service collaboratively.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the dress code and protect company assets through loss prevention practices.
• Perform additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant prior work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in the latest salon techniques across various services and products.
• Ability to operate salon equipment and handle chemicals safely.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
