GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality services focused on the guest's total look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:
Performance
- Perform a variety of hair services, including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
- Achieve or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1250, contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink targets.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain consistent attendance.
People
- Build guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promote the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols.
- Adhere to service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
- Utilize booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.
- Follow dress code policies.
- Implement loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant work experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
- Experience with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Capability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.

- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
