GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services, focusing on the guest’s overall look, and support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and a willingness to learn product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently through the following duties and all other assigned projects:

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Meet or exceed an average weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets for hair services, delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance the guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain punctual and regular attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and protect company assets through loss prevention practices.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant prior work experience required.

Skills

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
• Knowledge of equipment and chemicals used in technical services.
