Job summary

The Center for Disability Services in Albany, NY is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher for the Langan School. You will develop IEPs, design lessons aligned with goals, and support students with multiple disabilities in a nurturing educational environment.

Qualifications include NYS certification in Special Education, a Bachelor's degree in the field, and the ability to lift 50 pounds. The role emphasizes collaboration with families and school staff.

Qualifications

• Initial NYS Certification in Special Education is required.
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education and currently pursuing Masters Degree in Special Education.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently.
• New York State permanent certification in Special Education is preferred.
• Masters Degree in Special Education is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of experience with students with multiple disabilities is preferred.
• Creative and energetic personality.

Responsibilities

• Develop students' Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
• Develop and implement lesson plans incorporating goals from all disciplines of each student's IEP.
• Implement and monitor behavior and classroom management plans as needed.
• Develop and adhere to an established daily schedule with adjustments as required.
• Maintain communication with classroom team, parents, and program directors regarding student performance.
• Reinforce appropriate student behavior using progressive discipline techniques.
• Establish clear expectations for students and classroom staff.

Many of the innovative programs and vital services that we offer are not available elsewhere. We are searching for a full time Special Education Teacher to join our agency. This position is based out of our Langan School in Albany, NY. Langan School provides educational services for K-12 students from 58 districts in the Capital District region and beyond, serving students who have multiple disabilities, autism, and traumatic brain injuries. Our dedicated team works every day to make sure each student is receiving not only an education optimized for their unique needs, but also full childhood and school experience. We have three ultimate goals for our graduates: independence, community inclusion and self-determination.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for developing students' Individualized Education Plans
• Develop and implements lesson plans incorporating goals/objectives from all disciplines of each student's IEP.

• Develops and adheres to an established daily schedule making daily modifications/adjustments as required
• Maintains communication with classroom team, parents and program directors regarding students' performance
• Develops lesson plans incorporating the IEP goals and objectives for each student
• Reinforces appropriate student behavior by utilizing progressive discipline techniques
• Establishes communicates and monitors clear expectations for both students and classroom staff

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds independently.

Compensation Range: $66,501.27 - $75,947.81
