Job summary

University Health System in San Antonio is seeking a Licensed Master Social Worker to join the Trauma team. You will counsel patients and families dealing with psychosocial and environmental challenges related to illness and provide crisis intervention and advocacy to support coping with disease and life changes.

Applicants should hold a Master’s in Social Work and a Texas LMSW license; one year of post-graduate health care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work is required.
• One year of post-Masters experience in a health care setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Counsels and assists patients and their families with personal and environmental difficulties which predispose illness or hinder the patient from receiving maximum benefits from medical care.
• Provides skilled intervention for the support and/or resolution of patient and family crisis, problem-solving and decision support, advocacy and facilitation necessitated by life-changing events, coping with the disease process and other psycho-social and socioeconomic issues.
