Position overview
Own the master production schedule and executable shop-floorpriorities for a high-mix, low-volume precision CNC machining operation servingaerospace and defense customers. Convert demand into realistic, capacity- andmaterial-aligned plans across machining, outside processing, inspection, andshipment. Partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain,Quality, and Customer Service to protect on-time delivery without compromisingtraceability, configuration control, or quality.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain the master production schedule (MPS) fromcustomer orders, forecasts, engineering releases, inventory, lead times, andavailable capacity; translate the MPS into work-order release and dispatchpriorities.
- Run or interpret MRP/ERP planning signals; identify materialshortages, long-lead items, WIP constraints, and demand changes; recommendfeasible recovery plans and communicate delivery-date impacts early.
- Perform rough-cut and detailed capacity planning for CNC millsand lathes, setup labor, programming, tooling, inspection, and key bottlenecks;balance priorities across multiple work centers and shifts.
- Sequence jobs by due date, customer priority, routing,setup/changeover, machine capability, material readiness, and outside-processlead time; update the schedule daily as conditions change.
- Coordinate with machinists, supervisors, programmers, andManufacturing Engineering on setups, first-piece approvals, process readiness, rework, and engineering changes before releasing or resequencing jobs.
- Track work orders through machining, deburr, special processes(such as heat treat, coating, or NDT), inspection, and shipping; expediteat-risk orders while documenting trade offs and revised commitments.
Quality, compliance & performance
- Plan realistic time for in-process and final inspection, firstarticle inspection (FAI/AS9102 when required), customer source inspection, andrelease of required certifications and documentation.
- Maintain schedule integrity when nonconforming material, qualityholds, corrective actions, or configuration revisions affect work; do notrelease held product or bypass required approvals.

- Publish schedule changes, shortages, capacity risks, and recoveryoptions to stakeholders; report on on-time delivery, schedule adherence,past-due backlog, WIP, and bottleneck utilization, and drive improvements toplanning data and processes.
Requirements
- 3+ years of production planning/scheduling experience inprecision machining or a comparable discrete-manufacturing environment;hands-on experience with MPS, MRP, ERP, work orders, BOMs, and routing.
- Working knowledge of CNC milling/turning workflows, setup andcycle-time drivers, tooling and fixture constraints, and the dependenciescreated by outsourced special processes and inspection.

- Strong Excel/data-analysis, prioritization, and cross-functionalcommunication skills; able to maintain accurate plans amid short lead times andchanging customer priorities.
Preferred qualifications
- Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience, including AS9100quality-system practices, AS9102 FAI planning, material/lot traceability, andcustomer-specific flow-down requirements.
- Experience with finite-capacity scheduling, S&OP/rough-cutcapacity planning, and high-mix, low-volume or make-to-order production;APICS/ASCM certification is a plus.
Measures of success:
On-time delivery and realistic promise dates; scheduleadherence; lower past-due backlog and avoidable expedite activity; timelyescalation of shortages and quality constraints; accurate ERP dates, routing, and work-order status.
Export control & work environment:
Export control. This role is expected to involve access to ITAR-controlled technical data. Employment is contingent on the ability to obtain lawful access underapplicable U.S. export-control laws and company policy; where required, thisincludes U.S.-person status under 22 CFR § 120.62 or applicable authorization.
