This role leads the development, integration, maintenance, analysis, and communication of design, procurement, and construction schedules for complex capital projects, including programs valued above $100 million.

Master Scheduler

Position Summary:

Cherokee Federal is seeking an experienced Master Scheduler to support its Construction Management team. This role leads the development, integration, maintenance, analysis, and communication of design, procurement, and construction schedules for complex capital projects, including programs valued above $100 million. The Master Scheduler will establish defensible resource- and cost-loaded baselines, validate progress with project and field teams, forecast schedule and cash-flow performance, identify critical-path and near-critical risks, and recommend practical recovery actions. The position works across project management, engineering, procurement, construction, project controls, finance, clients, and subcontractors.

Compensation & Benefits:

Starting Salary Range for Master Scheduler: $125,000 – $145,000

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

Includes the following:

• Develop and maintain the project planning and scheduling strategy within the Project Execution Plan and Project Controls Plan.
• Build, status, analyze, and maintain integrated Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules in Oracle Primavera P6 for design, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout activities.
• Develop resource- and cost-loaded baseline schedules with defined calendars, logic, constraints, milestones, activity coding, and Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
• Document each schedule's basis, assumptions, exclusions, calendars, constraints, and material clarifications.
• Coordinate with project management and finance to establish consistent WBS structures, naming conventions, activity codes, reporting formats, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, and pay-application support.
• Lead schedule reviews with discipline leads, field supervision, subcontractors, leadership, and clients to obtain alignment before baseline or update issuance.
• Collect and validate actual starts and finishes, remaining durations, percent complete, quantities, productivity, and forecast dates with the responsible teams.
• Update schedules weekly, or more frequently when project conditions require, and incorporate approved scope changes through controlled change-management practices.
• Monitor progress against the approved baseline and current forecast; perform critical-path, near-critical-path, float, trend, resource, and variance analysis.
• Identify schedule risks, logic deficiencies, out-of-sequence work, emerging delays, and performance gaps; recommend mitigation and recovery actions.
• Develop recovery schedules and what-if scenarios in collaboration with project leadership and field supervision.
• Prepare schedule narratives, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, resource histograms, earned value analyses, cash-flow forecasts, and executive-level presentations.
• Present schedule status, risks, forecast impacts, and required decisions during internal, client, and project meetings.
• Monitor Engineering Work Package (EWP), Procurement Work Package (PWP), and Installation Work Package (IWP) performance when required by the project delivery model.
• Develop pre-award and post-award scheduling standards, templates, procedures, and quality-control checks for consistent use across projects.
• Review subcontractor schedules and progress submissions for logic, completeness, contractual compliance, and alignment with the integrated project schedule.
• Provide scheduling support, coaching, and practical P6 guidance to project team members.
• Maintain effective working relationships across all project stakeholders and raise concerns promptly, supported by schedule data and recommended alternatives.
• Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: (Basic Qualifications)

• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience using Oracle Primavera P6 to plan and control construction projects, major capital programs, or turnarounds.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining integrated CPM schedules for medium and large design and construction projects, including projects valued above $100 million.
• Demonstrated ability to develop resource- and cost-loaded baselines and align schedule performance with project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and pay applications.
• Advanced knowledge of CPM principles, schedule logic, critical and near-critical path analysis, float analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, and recovery planning.
• Working knowledge of the project controls lifecycle and the systems, governance, and reporting practices that support it.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to develop clear schedule reports and presentations for project and executive audiences.
• Ability to interpret design, procurement, construction, and commissioning sequencing and translate execution plans into a credible schedule.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain schedule impacts, assumptions, and alternatives clearly.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate across disciplines, manage competing priorities, and remain effective under schedule pressure.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer; may occasionally require standing or moving about the office for extended periods.
• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting federal, EPC, design-build, construction management, or other complex multi-discipline programs.
• Experience with earned value management, schedule quality assessments, time-impact analysis, delay analysis, and change control.
• Experience integrating contractor and subcontractor schedules into a program-level master schedule.
• Relevant scheduling or project controls certification, such as AACE PSP or PMI-SP.
