Job summary

Toledo Tool & Die in Maumee, Ohio, is seeking a Master Scheduler to develop and maintain the production schedule for stamping and weld cell operations in an automotive environment.

You will coordinate across production control, stamping, weld, quality, and materials to ensure on-time delivery, optimize labor and tooling use, and balance customer demands with plant capacity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of production scheduling, planning, or production control in manufacturing.
  • Automotive stamping or Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with capacity planning, scheduling algorithms, and production workflows.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systems and customer-specific shipping/EDI requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, publish, and maintain the master production schedule for stamping and weld cell operations based on forecasts, firm orders, engineering changes, and material availability.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly production plans for multiple stamping presses and weld cells across all shifts, ensuring optimal sequencing and minimal downtime.
  • Schedule weld cell operations to align with upstream stamping output and downstream shipping requirements, balancing capacity and fixture availability.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, capacity, WIP levels, and material constraints; adjust schedules as conditions change.
  • Collaborate with Production Control, Stamping Supervisors, and Weld Supervisors to balance workloads and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Ensure scheduling supports on-time delivery (OTD), inventory targets, and customer shipping requirements.
  • Communicate schedule updates and priorities to Production, Tool & Die, Weld, Materials, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Identify risks to the schedule and elevate as needed.
  • Coordinate with Tool & Die and Maintenance on die readiness, repair schedules, PMs, and changeover planning.
  • Maintain scheduling data in ERP/MES systems and ensure accuracy of orders, routings, BOMs, and lead times for stamping and weld operations.
  • Support new product launches by developing preliminary schedules and validating capacity; coordinate trial runs.
  • Analyze historical data to suggest improvements in press and weld cell utilization and setup efficiency.
  • Monitor customer releases, EDI transactions, and shipment schedules to adjust plans proactively.
  • Prepare reports on capacity usage, schedule accuracy, and delivery performance.
  • Foster communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement across scheduling and production.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Master Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and executing the production schedule for an automotive stamping environment, including the scheduling of weld cell operations. This role ensures the optimal sequencing of stamping and welding operations, alignment with customer demand, and efficient use of labor, tooling, dies, weld fixtures and equipment, raw materials, and machine capacity. The Master Scheduler works closely with Production Control, Stamping Operations, Weld Operations, Quality, Engineering, Materials, and Supply Chain to create a schedule that supports on-time delivery, minimizes downtime, and maintains inventory accuracy. This position plays a critical role in balancing customer requirements with plant capabilities across both stamping and weld cells to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Develop, publish, and maintain the master production schedule for stamping and weld cell operations based on customer forecasts, firm orders, engineering changes, and material availability.
  • Coordinate daily and weekly production plans for multiple stamping presses and weld cells across all shifts, ensuring optimal sequencing, synchronization of stamping-to-weld flow, and minimal downtime.
  • Schedule weld cell operations to align with upstream stamping output and downstream shipping requirements, balancing weld cell capacity, fixture availability, and robotic/manual station constraints.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, machine and weld cell capacity, WIP levels, and material constraints, adjusting schedules to meet changing conditions.
  • Collaborate with Production Control, Stamping Supervisors, and Weld Supervisors to balance workloads and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Ensure production scheduling supports on-time delivery (OTD), inventory targets, and customer shipping requirements.
  • Communicate schedule updates, changes, and priorities to Production, Tool & Die, Weld, Materials, Engineering, and Quality teams.
  • Identify risks to the schedule, including equipment downtime, tooling and weld fixture issues, material shortages, and quality concerns; elevate as needed.
  • Coordinate with Tool & Die and Maintenance on die and weld fixture readiness, repair schedules, PM requirements, and press and weld cell changeover planning.
  • Maintain scheduling data in ERP/MES systems and ensure accuracy of production orders, routings, BOMs, and lead times for both stamping and weld operations.
  • Support new product launches by developing preliminary schedules, validating stamping and weld cell capacity, and coordinating trial runs.
  • Analyze historical production data to recommend improvements in press and weld cell utilization, staffing plans, and setup efficiency.
  • Monitor customer releases, EDI transactions, and shipment schedules to adjust plans proactively.
  • Prepare reports on capacity usage, production attainment, schedule accuracy, and customer delivery performance.
  • Foster strong communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement throughout the scheduling and production process.
  • Assumes additional duties as assigned, which may fall outside the primary scope of the role.
Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of production scheduling, planning, or production control experience in manufacturing required.
  • Automotive stamping or Tier 1/Tier 2 supplier experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with capacity planning, scheduling algorithms, and production workflows.
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 quality systems and customer-specific shipping/EDI requirements preferred.
GENERAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with production teams, leadership, suppliers, and customers.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to maintain accurate, detailed schedules.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with strict deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving ability and initiative.

SOFTWARE/COMPUTER SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, QAD, Plex, Oracle, or similar) required.
  • Strong skills in Excel (pivot tables, formulas) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with MES and scheduling software preferred.
  • Ability to learn new systems quickly including high accuracy in data entry, reporting, and documentation.
