Job summary

Sedona Staffing Services in Dubuque, IA, is seeking an experienced Production Planner / Master Scheduler to manage the flow of work from Engineering through Manufacturing, Outside Services, Quality, and Shipping.

The role develops and maintains the master production schedule, balances capacity, coordinates outsourced operations, and helps drive on-time delivery performance. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating with both office and shop-floor teams.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in production planning or master scheduling.
  • Experience with ERP in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Excel and production reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor the master production schedule.
  • Coordinate workflow from Engineering release through production and outside services.
  • Review job status, material availability, labor capacity, and department constraints.
  • Identify bottlenecks and adjust schedules to support customer delivery commitments.
  • Balance work center loading to improve production flow and efficiency.
  • Use ERP systems to review and update work orders, routings, due dates, work center queues, and production information.
  • Generate and review reports related to backlog, job status, capacity, and delivery risks.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Shipping to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Monitor outside service vendors and coordinate timing of outsourced processes.
  • Communicate daily and weekly production priorities and schedule changes.
  • Identify jobs at risk of delay and develop recovery plans.
  • Support customer delivery and production performance metrics.
  • Recommend improvements to scheduling processes, production flow, and ERP data accuracy.
  • Support continuous improvement and lead-time reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of experience in production planning, master scheduling, manufacturing operations, production supervision, or a related role.
  • Manufacturing experience with multiple production steps and changing priorities.
  • Strong understanding of production workflow, capacity planning, and scheduling.
  • Experience using an ERP system for work orders, scheduling, reporting, and production control.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and production reporting tools.
