Job summary

Pinterest is seeking a data scientist to evolve the product by turning data into actionable insights that inspire Pinners and inform advertisers. You will apply quantitative analysis, modeling, and data mining while partnering with engineering and product teams to influence the roadmap.

You’ll design metrics, run A/B experiments, and communicate insights across cross-functional teams, helping shape the next experiences and measure impact on business outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences, computer science or related field.
• Fluency in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R).
• Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including ML, statistical modeling, forecasting, econometrics or other related fields.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain learnings to both technical and non-technical partners.
• Strong critical thinking when working with AI-generated suggestions, with a clear approach to validating correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Ability to connect data analysis to real business problems, in order to impact business performance.

We’re looking for a Data Scientist to help evolve and shape the future of our product -- inspiring Pinners and connecting them with actionable content, understanding advertisers and measuring the value Pinterest provides to them, and enabling our employees to evaluate potential product changes faster than ever before. What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, applied sciences, computer science or related field.
• Ability to manipulate large data sets with high dimensionality and complexity; fluency in SQL and a scripting language (Python or R)
• experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches including in the fields of Machine Learning, Statistical Modeling, Forecasting, Econometrics or other related fields
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain learnings to both technical and non-technical partners
• Strong critical thinking when working with AI-generated suggestions, with a clear approach to validating correctness, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Ability to connect data analysis to real business problems, in order to impact business performance.

In-Office Requirement Statement

• We let the type of work you do guide the collaboration style. That means we’re not always working in an office, but we continue to gather for key moments of collaboration and connection
• This role may require you to be located near an office for in-person collaboration, and therefore may need to be located a commutable distance from one of our Pinterest offices.
