Job summary

The University of Chicago's ESA International Admissions team seeks an Assistant Director to apply admissions expertise to support master's admissions programs. You will work independently and in teams to problem solve, manage projects, and serve as a positive representative of the University during recruiting and application reviews.

In this role you will evaluate applications, interview and summarize master’s candidates, organize campus visits and virtual events, and lead special projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of related work experience.
  • Valid United States driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an admissions portfolio and serve as the primary evaluator of applications for admission related to a specific subject area and/or territory.
  • Recruit and evaluate master’s applicants by interviewing, reading applications, and summarizing evaluations, completing these tasks independently or with guidance from others.
  • Conduct college and university visits, attend college fairs, and host presentations virtually or by travel; admissions travel may last 4–6 weeks over the course of a year.
  • Deliver information sessions and specialized presentations, and participate in virtual and on‑campus events for prospective master’s students.
  • Own a special projects related to master’s admissions, including working with current student employees, managing print and web publications, coordinating in‑person and virtual programming, and more.
  • Maintain relationships with all individuals involved in the recruitment process, including counselling students and parents regarding the admission process.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone and e‑mail, providing a positive experience for all who interact with the department.
  • Provide weekend and evening availability throughout the year for application review, travel, and admissions events.
  • Perform other related work as needed.
