Back-Hoe Operator License preferred; ability to obtain after hire.
Back-Flow Diverter Certification preferred; ability to obtain after hire.
Minimum 5 years of considerable plumbing experience, including some commercial work.
Ability to read, write and speak English; interpret plans and specs.

Responsibilities

Perform master-level plumbing work, install/repair fixtures such as sinks, toilets, urinals, water heaters.
Install and test back flow preventers; maintain sprinkler systems.
Cut and join metal, copper, and plastic pipes; solder and connect fittings.
Replace defective fixtures, valves, regulators, and gaskets; test gas lines.
Plan layouts; read plans, diagrams, and manuals; estimate time/materials.
Obtain plumbing and gas permits; ensure compliance with codes; procure materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Operational

Perform skilled plumbing work at the master level; installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, urinals, showers, drinking fountains, icemakers, and water heaters
Install and test back flow preventions; maintain and repair sprinkler systems
Cut, ream, thread, solder, glue and connect metal, copper and plastic pipes and fittings
Replace defective fixtures, regulators, controls, traps, valves, faucets, washers and gaskets
Install water, gas and sewer lines; test for, locate and repair leaks in water, gas and sewer lines; open clogged drains, traps and fixtures; perform tests on gas appliances
Plan and layout work projects using arithmetical computation

Safety and Administrative

Obtain necessary plumbing and gas permits
Ensure that all safety precautions, regulations, and equipment are utilized properly, and that work complies with national, state, and local building codes
Review work orders and building plans; procure materials and supplies
Participate in work site set-up and clean-up activities to ensure a safe environment
Keep records and prepares reports of work accomplished and materials used

Supervisory Responsibilities

May supervise one or more employees and provide guidance and training

Master Plumber License

Minimum of 5 years of considerable working experience as a plumber, including some commercial experience
Ability to obtain a Reasonable Master Plumber License once hired
Ability to read, write and speak English
Strong ability to perform master level plumbing tasks in the installation, modification, maintenance and repair of plumbing
Ability to read and interpret plans, diagrams, schematics, and manufacturers manuals
Ability to plan and layout work projects and estimate time/materials needed
Ability to work collaboratively and maintain good interpersonal relationships

Additional Information

Work requires sufficient strength, agility, dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination to perform all essential tasks, including operating and using all tools and equipment, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds, walking, reaching in front of body and overhead while holding heavy objects, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time, climbing and working from ladders, scaffolds, and lifts up to 40 feet high. Work is performed both inside and outside school district building and facilities, and often requires working unusual hours or evening shifts. May be designated to 24 hour on-call. Employee is exposed to a wide range of climatic conditions, dust, flammable or toxic chemicals, explosive gases, scalding liquids, and loud noise levels. Employee is also exposed to physical hazards when operating tools and equipment and working in high places or cramped spaces. Employee is required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures.
