Job summary

Ector County Independent School District Maintenance Services in Odessa, TX is seeking a Master Plumber to maintain district plumbing systems across facilities. You will install, repair, and service pipes, fixtures, and gas systems per codes, under the supervision of the Foreman.

Candidates should have a Texas journeyman’s plumber license, 5 years of plumbing experience, and a valid Texas driver’s license. This is a full-time, nonexempt role with a wage range of $26.20 to $36.18 per hour and

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test piping systems per codes and specs.
  • Determine sources of malfunctions and perform repairs.
  • Install and repair pipes, fittings, valves, fixtures and plumbing equipment.
  • Receive and complete work orders; estimate material and labor.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools and materials.
  • Inspect completed work and ensure clean work areas.

Job Description

Job Title: Master Plumber

Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt

Reports to: Foreman

Pay Grade:10

Dept. /School: Facilities

Days: 247

Primary Purpose:

Under general supervision, maintain the flow and drainage of water, air and other gases by assembling, installing and repairing pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures districtwide. Maintain and provide for safe condition and operation of all plumbing systems in district facilities.

Qualifications:

Education/ Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Texas journeyman’s plumber license
  • Valid Texas driver’s license

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance and installation techniques
  • Knowledge of plumbing codes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics and written reference material
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
  • Ability to use hand and power tools

Experience:

  • Five years’ experience in the plumbing field

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assemble, install, maintain, and pressure test all pipes, fittings and fixtures of heating, water, drainage, sprinkler and gas systems according to specifications and plumbing codes
  • Determine sources of plumbing malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders
  • Install and repair pipes, fittings, valve, fixtures and plumbing system equipment, including sinks, commodes, water heaters, water softeners etc.
  • Receive and complete work order
  • Select material and hardware and make time and materials estimates
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean
  • Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Safety:

  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing etc.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately

  • The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, move throughout the room and/ or facility, and communicate verbally and electronically.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle tools. Able to reach with arms and hands, stoop, kneel, and crouch or crawl, climb, balance and drive.
  • Must be able to lift or exert force of up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities are required for this position
  • Must be able to handle environmental characteristics of this job which are but not limited to: Noise levels ranging from moderate to high
  • Handle moving mechanical parts and equipment
  • Airborne fumes and/or particles
  • Handle outdoor weather conditions

  • Sewer machine, pro press, gas tite, threading machine, cutting torch, turbo torch, gas testing equipment and various hand tools
