Job summary

The State of Arkansas Department of Public Safety seeks a highly skilled Mechanic Supervisor / Expert to diagnose, repair, and maintain complex vehicle systems, including high-performance, hybrid, and electric models. You will lead and mentor technicians, set repair standards, and ensure safety and quality in every job.

You will use advanced diagnostic tools, interpret complex data, and perform calibrations and reprogramming as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of an accredited automotive technology program or technical trade school curriculum focused on advanced automotive repair.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on automotive repair experience, including exposure to high-level diagnostic and repair tasks.
  • Certifications such as ASE Master Technician or similar advanced credentials may be required; additional manufacturer certifications for high‑performance, hybrid, or electric vehicles may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Assign supervisory duties based on the hiring agency’s operational needs.
  • Serve as senior technical expert in non-supervisory roles.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic tools and systems to identify issues in engine, transmission, electrical systems, and hybrids/electric drivetrains.
  • Interpret complex error codes and sensor data to pinpoint root causes.
  • Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and onboard computer systems.
  • Lead training sessions on new tools, repair techniques, and safety protocols.
  • Conduct inspections and quality control checks to meet manufacturer and industry standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and regulations.
