Job summary

Haynes International in Kokomo, IN, seeks a skilled machinist with a journeyman’s card or 6+ years in industrial manufacturing machining to layout, set up and operate a wide range of machine tools within a maintenance shop.

You will read complex blueprints, follow safety procedures, and maintain detailed records. The role includes supervising and training apprentices and hands-on use of cranes or other lifting equipment as required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with credentialed Machinist journeyman’s card or 6 years’ experience in industrial/manufacturing machining.
• Ability to read safety policies, manuals and procedures, and follow written and oral instructions.
• Experience applying mathematics and blueprint reading in a machine shop setting.
• Knowledge of tool care and use, and operating various machine tools in maintenance shop.

Responsibilities

• Layout, plan work, set up and operate a wide variety of machine tools in a maintenance/shop environment.
• Design and work from complex designs to fabricate and repair parts.
• Operate material handling equipment as needed and assist apprentices.
• Maintain records of work and follow recordkeeping processes.
• Train apprentices in industrial maintenance and machinist crafts.
