Job summary

Foster Farms is seeking a Master Level refrigeration technician in California to observe, adjust, and repair ammonia systems, chilled water, and related plant equipment. You will monitor temperatures, assist with PM scheduling, and ensure consistent quality and safety standards across the facility.

The role requires extensive refrigeration experience, hazardous materials training, welding and fabrication skills, and the ability to lead, train, and supervise hourly staff.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years refrigeration experience or 3 years with refrigeration course.
• HAZMAT 40-hour training with certificate.
• Annual PSM refresher training.
• Troubleshoot and correct in emergencies.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to work from a ladder; confined spaces with SCBA.
• Welding and fabrication skills.
• Certified to work on Freon systems.
• Work on weekends and rotating shifts.
• Submit to and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform Master Level duties including adjustments/repair to ammonia systems, chilled water, chlorine, air compressors, ice maker and delivery, HVAC and hot water systems.
• Monitor and adjust product cooler temperatures; coordinate PMs; inspect and complete mechanical duties.
• Instruct, direct and assist hourly employees as needed.
• Assist supervisor to ensure department goals of quality, productivity, cost and safety are met.
• Set up/organize department staffing and adjustments as needed.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, sanitation and food requirements while performing job duties.
• Assist with and complete paperwork as required by supervisor.

Job description

(Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 12:00am-4:59am)

• To perform all duties as specified at the Master Level classification, including but not limited to observing and making necessary adjustments and /or repair to ammonia systems, chilled water, chlorine, air compressors, ice maker and delivery, HVAC and hot water generation and delivery systems. Monitor and make adjustments to product cooler temperatures. Help with coordination of PM’s, inspect and complete mechanical duties to ensure quality of work on equipment.
• Instruct, direct and assist hourly employees as needed.
• Assist supervisor to ensure that department and company goals and standards of quality, productivity, cost and safety are met.
• Set up/organize and ensure that the department is staffed and make necessary adjustments as needed.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, sanitation and food requirements while performing job duties.
• Assist with and complete paperwork as required and/or requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the refrigeration field or the successful completion of a course of instruction in refrigeration combined with three years of experience may be acceptable
  Must have successful completion of HAZMAT 40 hour training and certificate
  Must complete annual PSM (Process Safety Management) refresher training
  Must be able to troubleshoot and make on-the-spot corrections in emergency situations
  Must have good written and verbal English-communications skills
  Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  Must be able to work from a ladder
  Must be able to work in confined spaces, pass a SCBA physical exam
  Must be able to weld and perform mechanical and fabrication tasks
  Must be certified to work on Freon systems
  Must be able to work weekends and rotating shifts
  Must be able to submit and pass criminal background check
