Job summary

Harsco Environmental is seeking a Master Heavy Equipment Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain a fleet of heavy industrial equipment within a steel mill and industrial site. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems, and ensure reliability to support continuous operations.

This hands-on role requires safety focus, independent work, and expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and diagnostic tools to minimize downtime

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5–7 years of experience repairing heavy equipment, construction equipment, mining equipment, or industrial mobile equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with diesel engine repair and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, hydraulic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as business needs require.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy mobile equipment, including wheel loaders, excavators, material handlers, cranes and support equipment.
• Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems, electrical and electronic control systems, powertrain and drivetrain components, braking, steering and suspension.
• Use diagnostic software, laptops, and testing equipment to identify faults and perform repairs.
• Conduct welding, cutting, fabrication, and component replacement as necessary.
• Complete work orders and maintenance records accurately in CMMS.
