Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for the statewide facilities. The role focuses on maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical infrastructure and systems, including lighting, control, and distribution up to 600 volts, across correctional institutions.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of electrical experience or 4+ years in the field (training/substitution allowed).

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of experience in Electrical/Electrician OR 4+ years experience in Electrical/Electrician (training/colloquial options can substitute).
A valid Driver’s License is required.

Responsibilities

Maintains, repairs, and installs electrical infrastructure, systems, and devices up to 600 volts.
Conducts preventive maintenance and tests, keeps logs and reports per guidelines.
Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal codes and safety procedures.
Supervises inmates, participates in training, and prepares progress reports.
