Job description

KBR's Defense Systems Engineering business unit is seeking to hire a Master Electrician with a Security Clearance to join our Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Operating Unit. CIP provides expertise in the design, installation, and maintenance of Electronic Security Systems (ESS) and Utilities / Control Systems for the DoD, FAA, and Federal Law Enforcement.

Job Summary :

The Master Electrician will be responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of the electrical infrastructure for two secure buildings, including UPS systems and emergency backup generators, to ensure maximum uptime for the Security Facility Operations, Maintenance, and Security (SFOMS) program at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  1. Determine customer requirements, plan, procure materials and services, and oversee installation and removal of electrical infrastructure.
  2. Document all changes and maintain history files.
  3. Manage building Access Control System, Fire Alarm system, and public address system, as well as telecommunications and network infrastructure as needed.
  4. Maintain and test backup UPS and Emergency Power Generation systems, monitor performance, and interpret data to identify issues.
  5. Develop short-range plans, discuss costs and impacts with the team and customer, and provide estimates for upgrades and replacements.
  6. Review resources and costs with the customer and secure approval prior to project execution.
  7. Provide reports on project results and lessons learned.
  8. Coordinate with specialized vendors and equipment manufacturers when necessary.
  9. Supervise team members, schedule tasks, ensure personnel are qualified, and monitor work quality.
  10. Ensure team training and development to optimize performance.
Basic Qualifications :
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 10 years’ experience with electrical work.
  • U.S. Citizen with an active Secret security clearance, eligible for TS / SCI clearance.
  • Current Master Electrician License.
