Job summary

Altium Packaging in Sparta, TN is seeking a Master Electrician to maintain and optimize electrical systems in our plastics manufacturing plant. This on-site role requires a seasoned professional with experience in industrial electrical systems and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities include maintenance, installation, upgrades, project management, and collaboration with engineering to minimize downtime. Travel is limited and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Journeyman Electrician license with Master Electrician certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing settings, preferably plastics manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; ability to work independently and with others.
• Willingness to travel 10–20%. on-site work environment.

• Electrical System Maintenance: inspect, troubleshoot, repair motors, transformers, and control systems; perform routine maintenance.
• Installation and Upgrades: lead installation of new electrical systems and upgrades; plan and execute improvements.
• Safety and Compliance: ensure work meets local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards; uphold safety protocols.
• Project Management: manage projects from budgeting to scheduling; supervise apprentices and junior electricians.
• Documentation and Reporting: maintain records of all electrical work; prepare reports on performance.
• Collaboration: work with engineering and production teams; provide technical guidance; overtime may be required.

Job description

Location Address: 600 Vista Drive, Sparta, Tennessee 38583 Work Shift: 8hr-1st Shift 6a-2:30p Sparta (United States of America) The Master Electrician is responsible for the maintenance and optimization of electrical systems and machinery within the plant. This role demands a seasoned professional with deep expertise in industrial electrical systems, particularly within a plastics manufacturing environment. The position involves limited travel, focusing primarily on-site tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of electrical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical System Maintenance: Conduct inspections, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, components, and equipment, including motors, transformers, and control systems. Perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
2. Installation and Upgrades: Lead the installation of new electrical systems and machinery, adhering to all relevant codes and standards. Plan and execute electrical upgrades to enhance facility efficiency and productivity.
3. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical work adheres to local, state, and national electrical codes and safety standards. Implement and uphold safety protocols to safeguard personnel and equipment.
4. Project Management: Manage electrical projects from start to finish, including budgeting, scheduling, and coordination with other departments. Supervise and mentor junior electricians and apprentices.
5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain precise records of all electrical work performed, including repairs, maintenance, and installations. Prepare reports on electrical system performance and suggest improvements.
6. Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and production teams to support manufacturing processes and resolve electrical issues. Provide technical guidance and support to plant staff – locally and across the network - as needed. Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent Journeyman Electrician license with a Master Electrician certification.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably in plastics manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with PLCs and automated systems is a plus.
• Ability to travel 10% to 20%.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job site can be loud. Employee could be exposed to seasonal weather conditions if required to go outdoors. Proper use of PPE is required in Production area at all times.

Physical Demands

Ability to perform a standing job for 8 to 12 consecutive hours. Remain stationary extended periods of time. Move around the facility – inside and out. Move, adjust, and position anywhere from 10 to 45 pounds. Identify, recognize and assess documents, machinery and more. Must be able to walk, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, reach and grasp for varying periods of time during a consecutive 8 to 12-hour period.
