Job summary

Gulfstream is seeking a Master Craftsperson for the GAC St. Louis site to perform precise repairs on aircraft installations and lead in a team‑oriented environment. The role requires deep experience in production, manufacturing, and service centers, plus FAA A&P credentials.

The candidate will troubleshoot tooling and assembly processes, collaborate with Engineering and Quality Control, and support Lean initiatives while mentoring colleagues. Shift: First, full‑time employment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • FAA A&P license required or obtain a repairman certificate within 30 days of start date.
  • Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in production, manufacturing, or a service center.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs on installations requiring high accuracy and timeliness.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, production, and aircraft systems to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Organize and administer the Employee Skills Development Program.
  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems.

Master Craftsperson – GAC St. Louis

Unique Skills: Systems Integration – Extensive experience in furniture finish, furniture touch up, scheduling, quality assurance, and cross‑departmental communication. Proven ability to perform detailed repairs that require a high degree of accuracy & timeliness. Experience with Catia, Smarteam, My3d, Exaled AIR, and backshop processes preferred. Function independently in a team‑oriented work environment while also stepping into a leadership role when required.

Compensation range: $29.71 – $40.57 per hour. Final compensation is determined by qualifications, skills, education, experience, and location.

Job Description
Essential Functions
  • Perform technical functions such as proper manufacturing methods, sequencing of operations, and methodology of assemblies and installations, including detail components.
  • Troubleshoot issues in tooling, production, assembly, aircraft systems and operations, composites, etc., to determine causes and pursue preventative actions with proper liaison to improve production efficiency and product quality.
  • Assist in problem solving to establish or correct planning methods for producing parts and using tooling efficiently through standard techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Interact with Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality Control to troubleshoot problems and implement solutions.
  • Organize, develop (with assistance of the Training Department) and administer the Employee Skills Development Program.
  • Identify and develop training requirements for tooling, test equipment, and other areas.
  • Support Lean activities.
Additional Functions
  • Perform tasks assigned to department mechanics or leads during their absence, when required.
  • Comply with standard operating procedures.
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation, including CMP cards, travelers, and R&I log.
  • Comply with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies and use personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure aircraft interior is protected (PTP).
  • Assist in the development and implementation of related initiatives.
  • Assist in training subordinates in proper techniques, processes, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing procedures and specifications, plant safety, tooling, and quality requirements.
  • Familiar with CATIA V5 and Solumina software.
  • Track record of troubleshooting manufacturing or installation processes.
  • Proficient knowledge of all applicable machinery and processes, including lathe, mill, surface grinder, contour roller, cold working tools, general sheet metal tools, UV curable coatings, sanding equipment, table saw, drill press, router, chop saw, time saver, jointer, planner, band saw, edge banding sander, disk sanders, resaw foam saws, pin saw, general upholstery tools, Surgers, sewing machine, toning, stripping (chemical/heat), touch‑up, spraying, buffing, staining, painting, and paint color matching.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership skills and ability to communicate and impart knowledge to others.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work any shift.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
