Job summary

Sinclair Broadcast Group is seeking a Supervisor of Master Control to lead a team responsible for playout and origination on a cloud-based Master Control Platform. The role includes guidance, development, and training for Master Control Operators, and acting as a liaison with clients and partners to ensure smooth operations.

The candidate will supervise day-to-day operations, support live news and sports events, and participate in creating and implementing new workflows.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years as Master Control Operator or in Master Control/Ingest roles.
  • Experience with On Air Master Control Automation Systems.
  • Experience with Cloud Automation Playout AMAGI CLOUDPORT.
  • Experience in troubleshooting operational issues (Playout, Media, Caption, etc.).
  • Experience with digital workflows and digital video technologies.
  • Experience in Switching Live Local News and Sporting Events.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the day to day operations of the Media Operations Center.
  • Support the team during Live Local News and Local/Network Sports Events.
  • Assist Sr. Manager with creation, training and implementation of new processes and workflows.
  • Support and, when needed, oversee training initiatives for Master Control Operators.

  • Manage staffing to include attendance issues, resolving call-ins and all unscheduled shifts.
  • Compile data and generate reports as needed.

Job description

In your role as Supervisor of Master Control, you will support the playout and origination of Fox Stations that are broadcasting on our new Cloud-Base Master Control Platform. In this position, you will provide leadership, guidance and development on a team of Master Control Operators. You will assist with training and skills development for members of your team.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Supervise the “day to day” operations of the Media Operations Center
  • Support the team during Live Local News and Local/Network Sports Events.
  • Assist the Sr. Manager of the Media Operation Center with the creation, training, implementation of new processes and workflows.
  • Support and in cases, oversee training initiatives for Master Control Operators
  • Act as a liaison for the group between clients and partners in order to strengthen partnerships with Master Control (Station General Manager, Traffic Department, On Air Promotion, Programming, Engineering, etc.).
  • Perform the duties of Master Control Operator when needed
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Consistently check in with staff and update regularly about workflow processes and changes made for the “day to day”
  • Ensure completion of daily tasks
  • Actively participate in developing positive employee relations
  • Prepare performance evaluations, writing and participating in yearly reviews
  • Take responsibility for the work environment, both culturally and physically
  • Manage staffing needs to include attendance issues, resolving Call-Ins and all unscheduled shifts.
  • Assist with special projects as necessary
  • Approach operations and resourcing using an agile and lean mindset.
  • Compile data and/or generate reports, as needed.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ Years experience as Master Control Operator or Technicians in Master Control and Ingest Areas of Television and Content Media Companies.
  • Experience with On Air Master Control Automation Systems
  • Experience with Cloud Automation Playout System – AMAGI CLOUDPORT (A PLUS)
  • Experience in troubleshooting operational issues (Playout, Media, Caption, etc.).
  • Experience with digital workflows and digital video technologies.
  • Experience with Systems and Hardware for Content Ingest, Playout and Distribution.
  • Experience in Switching Live Local News and Sporting Events. (A MUST)
  • Experience in Local Station Operations.
  • Available to work any shift in a 24/7 Operation as well as holidays and weekends.
  • Excellent Writing Skills of Technical Operating Procedures. (A MUST)
