Agence France-Presse (AFP) is seeking a dynamic Master Control Room Operator for its North American Headquarters in Washington, D.C. The role centers on producing and transmitting live and recorded video feeds in a 24/7 MCR environment.

Primary duties include monitoring on-air automation, troubleshooting signals, and coordinating with teams worldwide to ensure smooth broadcasts. Shift work from 12:00 to 20:00 with overtime and holiday coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Hands-on knowledge of analog/digital/HD & 4K video/audio signals.
• Experience troubleshooting video and audio control systems.
• Degree or diploma in broadcast technology or related field.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent English; French and/or Spanish a plus.

Agence France-Presse (AFP), one of the world’s leading news agencies, is looking for a dynamic Master Control Room Operator for its North American Headquarters in Washington D.C.

The position

The MCO’s primary duties will be in support of producing and transmitting live and recorded video feeds for AFP’s Master Control Room (MCR) in Washington, DC, where the agency handles multiple 24/7 live broadcasts.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Monitor and control of the on-air automation system
• Monitor/troubleshoot inbound and outbound signals and recording/playback of material on servers
• Operate all Master Control equipment for multiple video live feeds and recordings. Ensure all recordings are accomplished per daily schedule.
• Communicating with teams on the ground reporting on stories happening around the world, checking technical equipment is fully functional and ensuring smooth live broadcast
• The job will require working in shifts of eight hours, generally 12:00-8:00 pm.The successful applicant may also be required to work overtime from time to time, as well as public holidays.

Hands-on and/or working knowledge of systems/equipment used in analog/digital/HD & 4K video/audio signals and monitoring equipmentExperience in troubleshooting video and audio control systemsDegree or diploma in broadcast technology or related fieldExceptional organizational and multi-tasking abilities, a passion for video newsStrong interpersonal, communication skills and the ability to work under strict time deadlines, as part of a very busy teamKnowledge of the needs of big broadcasters and international experience is a plus.Minimum two years’ professional experience preferred, but fresh graduate’s applications may be considered for this job.Native or excellent level of written and spoken English.
