Job summary

The Champaign County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Master Control Officer (Part-Time, non-exempt) to monitor and control jail security systems at the Champaign County Jail. This role reports to the Shift Commander or Supervisor and requires the ability to handle high-stress situations while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, basic office skills, and experience operating security systems.

SUMMARY

Maintains security of the Champaign County Jail facilities by monitoring and controlling various security devices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes but not limited to as other duties may be assigned.

• Monitors and controls both internal and external security of the jail using multiple security devices.
• Performs clerical functions by maintaining logs, records, reports and files.
• Deals with the public and other law enforcement agencies in person and by telephone and fax.
• Performs other duties as requested by a supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Courses in typing, business machine operation and general office procedures or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to handle stressful situations.
• Ability to multi-task
• Have a thorough knowledge of the operation of various security systems.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Experience working independently.

COMPENSATION

• Starting Wage: $21.52 per hour.

Applicants should note this is a Bargaining Unit position under the Agreement set by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Union contract.
