The ideal candidate has a Master Carpenter qualification or equivalent experience and at least five years in commercial or institutional carpentry, painting, or facility repair.

Master Carpenter - Facilities Support Services
Location: Fort Meade, MD
Position Summary

LAUKOA is seeking a qualified Master Carpenter to support facilities operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position performs advanced carpentry, painting, building maintenance, repair, installation, and modification of facility components in Government-owned facilities. The selected candidate will support preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, service orders, and facility repair activities while ensuring work is completed in accordance with contract requirements, applicable codes, safety procedures, and established workmanship standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced carpentry, painting, building maintenance, repair, and installation work.
  • Install, maintain, and repair doors, door frames, door hardware, trim, built-in fixtures, cabinets, shelving, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, screens, and related facility components.
  • Repair or replace interior and exterior finishes, trim, flooring, wall surfaces, and other architectural components.
  • Perform repairs to fire doors, smoke doors, rated doors, door closers, door stops, door seal kits, and related hardware.
  • Perform painting and surface preparation duties, including patching, sanding, taping, priming, staining, and applying paint or protective coatings.
  • Prepare and paint interior and exterior surfaces such as walls, doors, handrails, trim, ceilings, floors, roof hatches, pipes, bollards, gates, fences, curbs, signage, and other facility components.
  • Match existing paint colors, finishes, and materials to maintain a uniform and professional appearance.
  • Move and protect furniture, equipment, flooring, and adjacent finishes prior to carpentry or painting work, and return items to their original location after work is complete.
  • Support roof, ceiling, wall, floor, and building envelope repairs as assigned.
  • Perform minor framing, finish carpentry, custom woodwork, cabinet repair, and furniture-related repairs.
  • Inspect facility components to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret drawings, sketches, specifications, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Respond to service calls and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Provide recommendations, scopes of work, bills of materials, and status updates for identified deficiencies, corrective maintenance, and project work.
  • Receive, update, and close out carpenter-related work orders in the CMMS.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and Government representatives to support facility operations and maintenance activities.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, measuring devices, painting tools, lifts, and trade-specific equipment safely.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while complying with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a Master Carpenter qualification, journeyman-level carpenter credential, contractor license, or equivalent documented experience acceptable for the work being performed.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing commercial or institutional carpentry, painting, building maintenance, or facility repair work.
  • Experience maintaining architectural and structural components in commercial, industrial, institutional, secure, or Government facilities.
  • Experience repairing doors, hardware, finishes, walls, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, painted surfaces, and related building components.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, specifications, work orders, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using a CMMS, work order system, or similar tracking system preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Advanced working knowledge of commercial carpentry, painting, building maintenance, and facility repair practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, safety requirements, materials, tools, paint products, coatings, and workmanship standards.
  • Ability to diagnose facility deficiencies and perform effective repairs.
  • Ability to perform precise measurements, layout, cutting, fitting, assembly, installation, surface preparation, and finish work.
  • Ability to support preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and facility operations across multiple building systems and components.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to receive work assignments, update CMMS records, enter data, and complete required documentation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities support team.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance personnel as needed.
Security Requirements
  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.
  • Must comply with all site access, badge, security, and secure facility requirements.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, lumber, hardware, paint, coatings, parts, and equipment consistent with the duties of the position.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined or restricted spaces.
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, maintenance areas, rooftops, exterior facilities, and occupied Government work areas.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding carpentry, painting, and facility maintenance activities for extended periods.
Wage Rate
  • Between $60.00 - $75.00 per hour
  • An additional $5.09 per hour up to 40 hrs per week for H&W per WD 2015-4265
