Wohlsen Construction Company is seeking an experienced Foreman with strong master carpentry skills to lead framing and trim installations on job sites in Los Angeles. The candidate will read blueprints, supervise crew members, and ensure adherence to safety and building codes.
The role requires a minimum 5 years of carpentry experience, 2+ years in supervision, and OSHA certification. Local travel and on-site work are expected in a dynamic construction environment.
Primarily responsible for building wooden structures according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions. Knowledge of industry codes and review specifications to determine dimensions of structures and ADA compliance specifications, wall ratings for fire codes, door, and window details. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and serve as active Foreman when necessary.
Works both indoor and outdoor construction, with exposure to various weather conditions and temperatures. Over time may be required and some work may involve elevated heights, several stories above ground or work below ground. Out-Of-Town work may also be required.
In a normal day, the employee must be able to walk 4-6 hours and stand for 7+ hours. In a normal day, this position requires little to no sitting. In a normal day, the employee must be able to drive 1-4 hours. Employee must be able to lift/carry up to 75 lbs. maximum; frequently lift/carry up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to use his/her upper extremities for repetitive simple grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation. In this position, employee continuously (67-100%) be able to bend at waist, squat the knees, climb (including ladders), reach above shoulders, kneel, crawl, and/or work at heights above 6 feet. Employee occasionally (0-33%) use feet (foot controls).
