Massage Therapist, Wellness, Spa & Fitness

Position Overview

The Massage Therapist manages the delivery of massage therapy services, performs various massage techniques, and creates a healthy, stress-free environment for clients. This role reports to the Assistant Spa & Fitness Director and works directly with the Spa & Fitness Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the BlueStar Experience by modeling and maintaining standards and adhering to policies.
  • Maintain professional, confidential relationships; understand and use universal precautions and ethics.
  • Assess client contraindications and customize treatments accordingly.
  • Focus on client care during sessions; engage in relevant conversations.
  • Practice health care protocols; report incidents or accidents.
  • Perform treatments based on current certifications and knowledge of spa services.
  • Create and maintain client records and treatment notes.
  • Maintain product knowledge; explain ingredients and benefits; promote products with a minimum 25% service-to-sales ratio.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized workspace; replace linens; disinfect equipment daily.
  • Adhere to scheduled treatment times; ensure work areas are clean and prepared.
  • Attend meetings and trainings; assist with facility maintenance and special event preparations.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year of customer service and massage experience preferred.
  • Must complete state-required training for licensed massage therapists (LMT).
  • Maintain current licenses and certifications; participate in continuing education.
  • Computer literate; able to explain and promote treatments and products.
  • Effective communication skills; ability to write client notes and reports.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends; valid driver’s license required.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

Work in a private, low-lit spa room; typically quiet environment. Must see, hear, speak clearly, sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Endurance and balance are required for massage sessions.
