DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Cancer Center at St. Charles Health System is a multi-site comprehensive cancer center that provides holistic care to our patients. The Cancer Center provides chemotherapy, medical oncology, infusion services, radiation therapy, oncology rehabilitation, integrative medicine, nutrition, social work, survivorship, and other supportive care treatments. All our staff support our patients in the various stages of their treatments. Services are provided at Cancer Centers in both Bend and Redmond.
POSITION OVERVIEW: The Oncology Massage Therapist at St. Charles Health System is responsible for providing massage therapy and lymphedema massage to cancer patients in active treatment, and cancer survivors.
This position does not directly manage any other caregivers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
EDUCATION:
Required: Completion of accredited massage therapy program and Oregon state licensure.
Preferred: N/A
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:
Required: Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT), Oncology Massage Certification, Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT).
Preferred: Level II Reiki Practitioner certification.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One (1) year experience as LMT with one (1) year experience in oncology massage and lymphedema massage.
Preferred: Three (3) years experience as LMT with three (3) years experience in oncology massage and lymphedema massage in a hospital-setting.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform the job safely.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Continually (75% or more): Standing, walking, keyboard operation, use of clear and audible speaking voice and the ability to hear normal speech level.
Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling 1-25 pounds.
Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping/kneeling/crouching, climbing ladder/stepstool* (*varies by area), reaching overhead, lifting/carrying/pushing, or pulling 25-50 pounds, grasping/squeezing, whispered speech level.
Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs.
Never (0%): operation of motor vehicle.
Exposure to Elemental Factors
Rarely (10%): Wet/Slippery Area, chemical solution.
Never (0%): Heat, cold, noise, dust, vibration, uneven surface.
