Job summary

Starwood Hotels is seeking a Massage Therapist to deliver exceptional massage and body treatments in a luxury spa setting in Austin. You will assess guest needs, perform treatments with skill, and maintain safety, privacy, and cleanliness to create a restorative experience.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, a valid state massage license, and at least two years in a luxury spa or resort. A massage therapist certificate and strong guest-service skills are required; weekend/holiday

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience providing massage and body treatments in a luxury spa or resort environment preferred.
  • Massage therapist Certificate.
  • Strong knowledge of massage modalities, body treatments, and contraindications.
  • Excellent guest service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional, polished appearance and demeanor.
  • Ability to educate guests and confidently recommend spa products and services.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety, cleanliness, and guest comfort.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency; experience with spa booking systems preferred.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions; capable of lifting and carrying supplies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform massage and body treatments according to established treatment protocols and guest preferences.
  • Greet guests warmly with a professional salutation, ensuring a welcoming and calming experience.
  • Conduct guest consultations to assess physical well-being, preferences, and contraindications prior to treatment.
  • Customize treatments as appropriate to meet individual guest needs while adhering to treatment guidelines.
  • Explain treatment services, techniques, and benefits clearly and professionally.
  • Educate guests on recommended home-care products and spa services; actively support retail sales initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and complete guest treatment records while ensuring strict confidentiality of all personal and medical information.
  • Uphold all sanitation, hygiene, and safety standards for treatment rooms, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and serene treatment environment and shared spa facilities.
  • Participate in staff meetings, ongoing training, product knowledge sessions, and team initiatives.
  • Be knowledgeable of all spa services, amenities, and resort offerings to confidently answer guest inquiries.
  • Conduct spa facility tours for guests as requested.
  • Report any guest concerns, treatment issues, injuries, or equipment malfunctions immediately to leadership.
  • Arrive for scheduled shifts on time, prepared, and in professional presentation.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and peak business periods.
  • Maintain a positive, guest-focused attitude and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; properly store flammable materials.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and standards with self and colleagues.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional.

Main Duties

The Massage Therapist is responsible for delivering exceptional massage and body treatments in a safe, professional, and personalized manner. This role focuses on creating a restorative, luxury spa experience by assessing individual guest needs, executing treatments with skill and care, and maintaining the highest standards of service, cleanliness, and confidentiality. The Massage Therapist serves as an ambassador of the spa and brand, ensuring every guest interaction reflects warmth, expertise, and attention to detail.
