Massage Therapist (1 Month Furlough) - Athletic Medicine - Part Time 8 Hour Rotating Shift (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)

Location: Los Angeles, California

Responsible for providing massage therapy services to Student Athletes, including consultations and treatment plans. Uses various massage techniques to control pain, reduce stress, and promote relaxation in a healthcare setting. Reviews medical history and suggests appropriate massage techniques based on current health. Records treatment, response, and progress.

Essential Duties:
  • Provides professional massage and bodywork services to promote healing and wellbeing.
  • Performs systematic manipulation or pressure on soft tissues for therapeutic purposes.
  • Delivers therapeutic massage using modalities such as Sports and Stretching Techniques.
  • Records treatment details, responses, and progress.
  • Consults with Student Athletes to identify painful or stressed areas.
  • Massages and kneads muscles and soft tissues to treat medical conditions, injuries, or for wellness maintenance.
  • Provides advice on stretching, strengthening, or relaxation methods.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals to develop treatment plans.
  • Willing to travel and work nights and weekends.
  • Reports misconduct or actions not aligned with department policies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Massage Therapy Program.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a Massage Therapist.
  • Knowledge of Massage Theory, Anatomy, and Physiology.
  • Ability to travel and work nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
Required Licenses/Certifications:
  • Licensed Massage Therapist by the California Massage Therapy Council (CMTC).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from American Heart Association.
  • Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) — must be obtained within 30 days of hire if not already held.

The hourly rate range is $29.00 - $45.20. USC considers various factors when extending employment offers, including experience, education, skills, and market considerations.
