Massage Therapist – Job Description & Performance Expectations
At WAC, we offer Massage Therapy for members and non-members to help improve wellbeing by reducing stress, relieving pain, enhancing circulation, and promoting relaxation and recovery. As a Massage Therapist, you will build a client base, welcome clients at check-in, process payments, and handle rebookings and cancellations. You must be licensed and registered by the state. This role is front-line, allowing your personality to shine and enabling you to connect with team members, members, and guests. You will have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
I. Daily Operations
- Display a member-first attitude by creating raving fans and attracting and retaining members.
- Be visible and interact regularly with clients and prospective clients using smiles, names, and eye contact.
- Attend Massage meetings.
- Manage or find substitutes for scheduled massages and inform the Team Lead of any changes.
- Maintain cleanliness of the Massage area before, during, and after sessions.
- Communicate promptly with therapists and Team Lead; respond to correspondence within one business day.
- Maintain SOAP notes for all clients via SOAP Vault.
- Follow all Massage department policies and procedures.
II. Team
- Participate in 90-day reviews and ongoing evaluations.
- Communicate concerns, suggestions, and complaints to the Team Lead.
- Pursue ongoing personal and professional development and share learnings with others.
- Be a team player and assist wherever possible.
III. Safety
- Know the Safety and Emergency Action Plans.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of the Massage area.
- Own and resolve Massage-related issues to ensure safety.
- Report all issues and broken equipment to the GM, Manager-On-Duty, or Maintenance team.
- Maintain good standing for your state license, national certification, and CPR.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for privacy.
- Adhere to insurance, liability, and incident reporting procedures.
IV. Financial
- Communicate the value, benefits, and pricing of Massage services to clients.
- Schedule Massages accurately in the management system for correct payroll.
- Complete individual Massage payroll by the deadline.
V. Income Generation
- Achieve or exceed massage goals.
- Contribute to exceeding Aquatics goals both individually and department-wide.
- Follow up regularly with clients for rebooking and retention.
- Share promotions like Buy 100, Get 20 events.
- Upsell or recommend additional services.
VI. Programming
- Assist with Massage programs and events.
- Use the Program Process for creating or evaluating events.
- Participate in upcoming programs and community activities to promote the club.
VII. New Member Integration & Retention
- Welcome new clients and connect them to other programs and events.
- Engage members and guests within 5 feet with a friendly greeting.
- Follow up with clients to ensure retention.
- Participate actively in retention programs.
