Clarinda Regional Health is looking for a Full-Time or Part-Time Massage Therapist to work in our Med Spa department! Operating hours are Tuesday - Friday from 8:00am - 6:00pm. Schedules may vary.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Massage Therapist provides professional therapeutic massage services in a safe, respectful, and client-centered environment. The Massage Therapist assesses client goals and preferences, performs massage techniques within the individual's scope of practice, provides appropriate education, and maintains accurate documentation.
The Massage Therapist works collaboratively with the Glow Medical Spa team to support client wellness, comfort, satisfaction, and continuity of care. The position supports the organization's commitment to Advancing Exceptional Care.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and/or Experience
- Graduate of a massage therapy program that meets State of Iowa licensure requirements.
- Previous experience in a spa, wellness, healthcare, or therapeutic massage setting is preferred.
Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
- Current license to practice massage therapy in the State of Iowa.
- Maintain required continuing education and licensure requirements.

WORK SCHEDULE & SHIFT REQUIREMENTS:
The facility operates Tuesday - Friday 8:00am - 6:00pm; however, work schedules may vary based on departmental needs to ensure the highest standard of client care and operational efficiency. Flexibility will be expected.
- Position is classified as non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with labor laws.

1. Massage Therapy Services
- Perform therapeutic massage services consistent with client goals, treatment plans, training, competency, and scope of practice.
- Review client history, preferences, contraindications, and areas of concern prior to treatment.
- Modify massage techniques, pressure, positioning, and session approach based on client needs and tolerance.
- Maintain appropriate draping, privacy, boundaries, and professional conduct throughout all services.
- Discontinue or modify services when a contraindication, adverse response, or client request indicates treatment should not continue.
2. Client Assessment, Education & Communication
- Conduct and document appropriate pre-service assessments and obtain required consents.
- Educate clients regarding treatment expectations, aftercare, hydration, self-care, and recommended follow-up within scope of practice.
- Communicate concerns or findings requiring medical evaluation to the appropriate medical provider or treating clinician when applicable.
- Respond to client questions professionally and refer questions outside the Massage Therapist's scope to the appropriate team member.
3. Safety, Infection Prevention & Environment of Care
- Follow hand hygiene, cleaning, disinfection, linen handling, and infection prevention procedures.
- Prepare and maintain treatment rooms to support client safety, privacy, comfort, and efficient workflow.
- Inspect massage equipment and supplies and report safety concerns or maintenance needs promptly.
- Follow CRHC and Glow Medical Spa emergency, incident reporting, and safety procedures.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Document services, assessments, client response, education, and other required information accurately and timely in the designated record.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with CRHC privacy, documentation, and record-retention requirements.
- Practice within applicable Iowa law, professional standards, CRHC policies, and established Glow Medical Spa procedures.
5. Client Experience & Service Coordination
- Provide a welcoming, professional, and respectful client experience.
- Collaborate with esthetic, nursing, and medical spa team members to coordinate services and support client goals.
- Assist with scheduling, room readiness, supplies, and daily workflow as needed.
- Recommend appropriate follow-up services or retail products only when consistent with client needs, training, and Glow Medical Spa practices.
6. Clinical Competency & Professional Development
- Maintain current knowledge and competency in massage therapy techniques, contraindications, safety practices, and professional standards.
- Participate in required education, skills validation, staff meetings, and competency assessments.
Quality Program Participation
- Actively participates in CRHC’s Quality Program, committees, performance improvement initiatives, and operational support activities.
- Demonstrates a commitment to Quality Improvement (QI) practices.
- Regularly attends Department huddles.
- Completes tasks as outlined on the Department Huddle Board.
Other Responsibilities
- Performs additional duties as assigned to support the strategic initiatives of CRHC and Glow Medical Spa, provided assigned duties are consistent with applicable licensure, training, and competency requirements.
