As a luxury haven where adventure meets tranquility, Chetola blends refined hospitality with immersive experiences—from Orvis®‑endorsed fly fishing to award‑winning dining, spa indulgence, and family‑friendly recreation. Under new ownership, we are embracing an exciting chapter rooted in thoughtful renewal, authentic elegance, and exceptional guest service. The Spa at Chetola provides a serene and restorative environment where guests enjoy therapeutic treatments tailored to their needs.

The Role

The Spa at Chetola Resort is seeking professional and experienced Massage Therapists (W‑2 employees) to join our team. In this role, you will provide exceptional therapeutic massage and body treatments in a tranquil, luxury resort setting, ensuring each guest leaves feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and cared for.

Due to strong and growing guest demand, the Spa is actively expanding its hours of operation, creating increased service volume and meaningful earning opportunities for our Massage Therapists. This role is scheduled based on peak demand, with services typically performed during late morning through early evening hours. Operating hours may vary by day, with services generally offered until 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and until 6:00 PM Sunday through Thursday.

Weekend and holiday availability is required, as these are critical, high‑demand periods for Spa operations and overall earning potential. Flexibility to support a variable schedule based on business levels is essential for success in this role.

As a member of the Chetola team, you will play a key role in delivering a Forbes‑aligned guest experience while supporting the continued growth and success of the Spa.

What You’ll Do
Guest Experience & Service Delivery
  • Provide consistent, professional massage and body treatments in accordance with spa protocols and accepted certification practices
  • Create a calm, welcoming, and personalized environment for each guest
  • Assess guest needs and recommend appropriate treatments, enhancements, and wellness solutions
  • Educate guests on wellness, self‑care practices, and product usage
  • Deliver services within the appropriate time allotted and ensure prompt, on‑time start and completion of each appointment
Guest Communication & Experience Enhancement
  • Handle guest questions, concerns, and requests professionally, courteously, and promptly
  • Provide accurate, appropriate, and timely responses to all guest needs
  • Actively promote spa services and home‑care programs, meeting minimum retail sales goals, to enhance the guest experience
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all spa services, products, and current promotions
Spa Operations & Treatment Room Standards
  • Prepare treatment rooms before each service and properly clean, sanitize, and restock rooms after each appointment
  • Uphold all sanitation, sterilization, and safety standards in accordance with state law and spa policies
  • Properly care for spa equipment and use appropriate product amounts to support cost control efforts
Team Collaboration & Communication
  • Communicate any guest or operational concerns to Spa leadership in a timely manner
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a supportive, team‑oriented work environment
  • Support overall Spa operations and assist in other areas as requested by management
Requirements
  • Active North Carolina Massage Therapy License in good standing
  • Minimum of 1 year of massage therapy experience preferred; resort or luxury spa experience a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possessing a general understanding of body treatments, and willingness to train in our spa’s specific massage and body treatment offering
  • Required availability to work weekends and holidays, which are core, high‑demand periods for Spa operations
  • Ability to work a flexible, demand‑based schedule aligned with Spa operating hours, which may extend until 7:00 PM on Fridays and Saturdays and 6:00 PM Sunday through Thursday
  • Ability to consistently work late morning through early evening shifts, based on guest demand and booking volume
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn spa booking/POS systems
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive physical movement
About You
  • Passionate about health, wellness, and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Professional, dependable, and service‑oriented with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and listening skills with a calm, welcoming presence
  • Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine enjoyment of working with people
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing to a team environment
  • Committed to maintaining guest confidentiality and a high level of professionalism
Attention to Detail in Action
  • Treatment room readiness: Proper lighting, calming music, comfortable temperature, and a fully prepared, clutter‑free environment before each guest arrives.
  • Linen and table presentation: Fresh, wrinkle‑free linens, properly draped tables, and a pristine, inviting setup.
  • Personal presentation: Professional, polished appearance with a calm, confident presence that immediately puts guests at ease.
