Job Description (Required): POSITION SUMMARY

A position is available for a bioanalytical scientist to join a protein mass spectrometry laboratory in ***’s Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, and Metabolism department. The role involves small-scale preparation of biological samples such as cells, tissues, or plasma for mass spectrometry measurement, including lysis, immunoprecipitation, digestion, filtration, and pre-concentration of proteins and peptides. The successful candidate should be detail-oriented, capable of working independently after training, and experienced in executing complex bioanalytical procedures. Expertise in immunoanalytical workflows, protein biochemistry, or proteomics is a plus. We seek a scientist passionate about learning and applying new skills to project needs.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Preparation of samples for mass spectrometry analysis
2. Design of experiments in collaboration with colleagues
3. Conduct analytical experiments and method development as needed
4. Identify and exploit new scientific concepts
5. Interpretation and documentation of experimental results
6. Communicate experimental results to team members
7. Maintain high-quality records in electronic lab notebook

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• BS/MS degree in chemistry, biological sciences, biochemistry, or related fields (NON-PhD)

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

• LC-MS biological sample preparation involving multi-step processes for isolating, purifying, and concentrating analytes for LC-MS analysis
• Operation of laboratory equipment
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team; effective partnering skills in a matrix environment
• Strong data organization, analysis, and communication skills

PHYSICAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Standard laboratory operations: standing, walking, sitting, light lifting.
