Job summary

The Department of Corrections, SCI Dallas, in Dallas, Pennsylvania, seeks an enthusiastic Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher - Corrections Education, Masonry to motivate learners and develop hands-on masonry skills in a secure setting. The role is based at SCI Dallas with a 37.5 hour work week, 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, Monday–Friday, not eligible for telework, and offers state retirement

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in Masonry
• If there is no approved apprenticeship period for Masonry, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning
• Please Note: The specified parenthetical for this posting is Masonry. The specific apprenticeship period for this parenthetical is 2 years.
• You must be in possession of or be eligible for a PA Vocational Certificate I or II for Masonry; or a PA Vocational Intern Certificate for Masonry; or an Emergency Certificate for Masonry.
• You must complete basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
• PA residency requirement applies.
• You must pass background check and CJIS compliance.
• Veterans' preference applies per PA law.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum adaptation to meet student learning needs
• Instruction delivery of masonry and construction trade skills in classroom and shop
• Maintain education records, attendance, inventory, and payroll information
• Monitor student behavior and enforce rules to promote learning
• Issue, track, and report tools and materials used in instruction
• Assist with other duties and contribute to curriculum development
