Job summary

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include, but are not limited to, the following. Other job-related duties may be assigned:

  • Measures distance from reference points and marks guidelines on working surface to lay out work.
  • Includes skills needed to install brick, concrete block and stone materials. Places materials in a mortar bed to level and align materials to specified thickness.
  • Determines vertical and horizontal alignment of courses.
  • Fastens brick or stone veneer to face of structures, with tie wires embedded in mortar between bricks, or in anchor holes in veneer brick.
  • Applies plaster to walls to complete repair work.
  • Works on ladders and scaffolding systems to complete work.

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

High School graduate or GED equivalent. Completion of Bricklayer Apprenticeship or equal experience

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
