The Registered Nurse (Hospital-Based) is a competent professional who delivers nursing care to patients of varying age groups by utilizing the nursing process and practice standards. The role involves:

  • Applying nursing practice competencies to ensure safe, patient-centered care;
  • Coordinating patient care and communicating effectively with the care team;
  • Developing professionally through continuous learning;
  • Evaluating care outcomes based on evidence, quality models, and safety goals.

The RN demonstrates competency in caring for complex patients and collaborates with the care team to improve care quality.

We are hiring RNs for the Neurology Progressive Care Unit at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital, Louisville, KY.

Location: 1850 Bluegrass Ave., Louisville, KY 40215

Shift: PRN

Position Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments from admission to discharge, ensuring safety and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient family;
  • Administer medications safely, assess effects, and document appropriately;
  • Plan and implement individualized care using current standards and patient safety goals;
  • Prioritize patient problems, develop care plans, and incorporate multidisciplinary data;
  • Implement nursing interventions to meet care needs and promote safety;
  • Evaluate patient and family education outcomes and revise care plans as needed;
  • Advocate for patients and prepare them for discharge;
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and supervise unlicensed staff as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance;
  • Orient and supervise new staff and students;
  • Potentially serve as relief charge nurse;
  • Engage in continuing education and evidence-based practices;
  • Participate in team communication, conflict resolution, and resource management;
  • Ensure compliance with policies, HIPAA, and other standards.
Shift Requirements

Typical shifts are 8-12 hours, with flexibility depending on department needs. Overtime may be required occasionally.
