Job summary

Integrated Martial Arts (IMA) is seeking a dedicated Karate Instructor to join our Worcester team. You will deliver engaging Karate instruction for adults and kids, building a respectful training environment aligned with our mission and values.

You will develop lesson plans, coach students to reach personal goals, and promote memberships and events. Prior coaching experience and a Black Belt are preferred, with CPR/First Aid certification optional.

Qualifications

• Black Belt in Karate preferred.
• Coaching or teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging and safe Karate classes for all skill levels.
• Teach Karate techniques with proper form and safety.
• Develop and deliver structured lesson plans for youth and adults.
• Build relationships with students and help them reach goals.
• Provide individualized coaching and feedback.
• Promote memberships, retail products, and class packages.
• Assist with gym tours and information for prospective members.
• Promote classes via social media and other channels.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive training environment reflecting IMA values.
• Prepare students for competitions and provide training guidance.
• Organize events, seminars, and special classes to foster community.
• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and facilities.

Position Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Karate Instructor to join the IMA team. The ideal candidate will embody our mission, vision, and core values while delivering exceptional Karate instruction for both adults and kids. You will play a vital role in building a supportive, respectful training environment that motivates students to achieve their personal goals, whether for competition, fitness, or self-improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead engaging and safe Karate classes for all skill levels (beginner to advanced).
• Teach Karate techniques with a focus on proper form, safety, and student progression.
• Develop and deliver structured lesson plans for both youth and adult programs to ensure student development.
• Build strong relationships with students and help them achieve their personal martial arts and fitness goals.
• Provide individualized coaching and feedback to help students reach their full potential.
• Use our gym management software to manage member check-ins, retail sales, and class enrollments.
• Promote and sell memberships, retail products, and class packages.
• Assist with gym tours and provide information to prospective members.
• Promote classes through social media and other applications to drive engagement and membership growth.
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive training environment that reflects IMA's mission, vision, and values.
• Prepare students for competitions, if applicable, and offer guidance on training and strategy.
• Assist in organizing events, seminars, and special classes to promote the gym and foster community.
• Maintain professionalism and uphold IMA's standards of excellence both in and out of the gym.
• Uphold IMA's core values in all interactions with members and staff.
• Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of training equipment and facilities.

Qualifications

• Rank/Experience: Black Belt in Karate Preferred. Previous coaching or teaching experience is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Passion: Commitment to helping students of all ages and abilities succeed.
• Ability to adapt teaching styles to meet diverse learning needs.
• CPR/First Aid certification (preferred but not required).

Compensation and Benefits

• Pay Range: $20-$35 per class (depending on experience & IMA Compensation Process).
