Aufgaben

• Starter duties: maintain professional appearance, provide information about the golf course and play times, assist guests with check‑in and pace of play, verify revenues by inspecting receipts, inform guests of course conditions, enforce course policies, perform other duties as assigned.
• Marshal duties: start players on the first tee and explain rules, maintain starting sheet, cue groups to the first tee and manage pace, tour the course to assist players, check restrooms and water stations, monitor spacing and communicate with the Golf Shop, report issues to the Head Professional.

Ideal candidates are friendly and organized, able to work in a fast‑paced environment, and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Golf Course Marshal / Starters provide guest services by guiding players to the first tee at appropriate times and controlling a smooth pace of play on the golf course. Beginners are welcome – while knowledge of golf is preferred, previous Golf Course Starting experience is not required for the position.

Ideal candidates have flexible schedules with availability to work weekends, holidays, and golf season, as needed.

Key Responsibilities of Starter

• Maintain professional appearance.
• Provides information regarding the golf course, play time and other golf related issues.
• Provides customer service to arriving guests to help expedite check‑in process.
• Verifies that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players before they begin play on the golf course.
• Keeps golf shop personnel informed regarding pace of play off the first tee.
• Supplies guests with scorecards, pencils and other items if needed.
• Advises guests of course conditions and expected pace of play.
• Implement and support all course policies and programs as communicated by management.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Key Responsibilities of the Marshal

• Starts players on the first tee explaining the rules of play for the day.
  
• Maintains an accurate starting sheet so the whereabouts of players are known.
  
• Cues groups to move to the first tee and makes sure not more than one group is on the tee at on time.
  
• Tours the golf course assisting players when needed to maintain the posted pace of play for the day.
  
• Checks the restrooms and water stations on a regular schedule.
• Maintains proper spacing on the golf course to avoid delays.
  
• Completes the golfer tracking report on a daily basis.
  
• Reminds players of the cart rules of the day.
  
• Repairs ball marks and collects any trash that may be on the course. Replaces any hazard stakes or directional signage.
  
• Communicates with the Golf Shop and Starter on a regular basis.
  
• Monitors the course and ensure customer satisfaction.
  
• Assists golfers when needed.
  
• Reports all problem situations to the Head Professional in a timely manner.
  
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skill Requirements of Starter

• Must have a valid driver’s license (if driving golf cars or driving range equipment).

• Must have strong customer/guest orientation.

Minimum Qualifications for the Marshal

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  

Other Qualifications

• Possesses basic math skills.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
