Position Summary
The General Superintendent oversees all on-site construction activities for solar EPC projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to quality standards. This role leads field teams, coordinates subcontractors, and partners closely with project managers to drive execution across multiple job sites. This role involves hands-on leadership, deep construction knowledge, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, productivity, and teamwork.
- The ideal candidate will be located near the Modesto/ Merced area with the ability to travel up and down the central valley to active job sites. Work vehicle will be provided. MUST have clean MVR.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead daily jobsite activities across multiple projects, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality execution.
- Coordinate project schedules, crews, subcontractors, and equipment to maintain progress and reduce downtime.
- Enforce safety standards, lead toolbox talks, and partner with Safety teams to maintain a zero-incident culture.
- Ensure work aligns with plans, codes, and specs; identify and resolve issues proactively.
- Supervise field staff and subcontractors, providing direction, accountability, and support.
- Act as liaison between field teams, project managers, and internal departments to ensure alignment.
- Keep accurate daily logs, site updates, and escalate concerns as needed.
- Oversee final inspections, punch lists, and turnover documentation for successful project completion.
- Travel to active job sites using company vehicle. MUST have clean MVR. (Central Valley area)
Required Experience
- 5+ years of construction experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role (e.g. Superintendent or Foreman), ideally in solar or utility-scale energy projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil, structural, and electrical scopes related to solar PV installations.
- Experience managing field crews, subcontractors, and project schedules across active job sites.
- Familiarity with construction drawings, safety standards (OSHA), and NEC codes.
- Proficiency with field management tools (e.g. Procore, Bluebeam) preferred.
Required Education
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience in construction supervision may be considered.
- Industry certifications such as OSHA 30, NABCEP, or PMP are a plus.
Required Skills/ Knowledge/ Abilities
Strong understanding of solar PV construction, including civil, structural, and electrical scopes, with working knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and project drawings. Skilled in leading field crews, managing subcontractors, and coordinating schedules and materials across multiple job sites. Proficient in tools like Procore and Bluebeam, with excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership abilities in fast-paced environments. Willing to travel and work in varying site conditions, MUST have clean MVR.
