Job description

Purpose

The Marketing Technology Manager will be the technical and strategic owner of our marketing technology stack — Salesforce Marketing Cloud and its integration with Salesforce CRM, alongside Zoom Events, Chili Piper, monday.com, and SMS Magic. You'll design, build, and optimize the automated journeys that reach students at every stage of their lifecycle, as well as the internal communications that keep staff informed — working hands‑on in the platforms while setting the architecture and standards that keep the whole ecosystem running smoothly. You'll partner closely with teams across Digital Marketing, Admissions & Enrollment, Advising, and Education & Career Development, turning their goals into personalized, data-driven communications — and you'll help shape and grow the function over time. This is a role for a seasoned builder who is equally comfortable writing a SQL query, architecting an integration, and advising stakeholders on what's possible.

Must reside in Texas where the work is performed

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):
Platform Ownership
  • Serve as the primary owner and administrator of Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC), including Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, Mobile Studio (SMS and push notifications), Contact Builder, and data extensions.
  • Own the configuration, health, and roadmap of the broader marketing technology stack — including Zoom Events, Chili Piper, and monday.com — and evaluate and onboard new platforms as needs evolve.
  • Maintain platform documentation, naming conventions, folder structures, and reusable assets so the stack stays organized, auditable, and scalable.
Integrations & Data Architecture
  • Own the integration between Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce CRM — including Marketing Cloud Connect, synchronized data sources, field mapping, and the flow of records and engagement data between systems.
  • Partner with Enrollment Operations and IT to ensure data flows cleanly across SFMC, Salesforce, Zoom Events, Chili Piper, and monday.com, and to troubleshoot sync, subscriber, and data‑quality issues.
  • Build and maintain the SQL queries and scheduled automations that segment audiences, refresh data extensions, and power personalization and reporting across platforms.
Journey & Lifecycle Orchestration
  • Design, build, and optimize automated journeys for each stage of the student lifecycle, in partnership with the teams that own each stage.
  • Translate the goals of Digital Marketing, Admissions & Enrollment, Advising, Education & Career Development, and IT into triggered, personalized, multi‑channel communications across email, SMS, and push notifications.
  • Own both external, student‑facing messaging and internal, staff‑facing communications, tailoring content, channel, and cadence to each audience.
  • Build and manage dynamic content, merge fields, personalization, and journey entry/exit criteria so the right message reaches the right audience at the right moment.
  • Develop and execute A/B and multivariate testing strategies to continuously optimize engagement, conversion, and journey performance.
Events & Scheduling Technology
  • Own the technical setup and integration of Zoom Events for open houses, information sessions, and recruitment events, including registration flows and post‑event follow‑up automation.
  • Administer Chili Piper for scheduling and routing so meetings and hand‑offs between prospects, admissions, and advising are booked and tracked reliably.
Data Integrity, Reporting & Compliance
  • Ensure data integrity through list management, data hygiene, and CRM synchronization.
  • Report on performance metrics, translating data into actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders and leadership.
  • Maintain email, SMS, and push deliverability, sender reputation, authentication, and list hygiene.
  • Ensure communications and data practices comply with applicable regulations (e.g., CAN‑SPAM, TCPA, GDPR, FERPA) and institutional consent and student‑privacy requirements.
  • Stay current with evolving marketing automation trends, compliance regulations, and emerging technologies to continuously enhance effectiveness.
Team & Cross‑Functional Leadership
  • Help define and, over time, build out the function — including scoping and onboarding a specialist as workload grows — and partner with the Marketing Coordinator on routine campaign production.
  • Act as the connective tissue between Marketing and the teams across the student lifecycle — running intake, prioritization, and delivery for martech requests.
  • Advise stakeholders on what's possible in the platforms, recommend the right approach, and set realistic scope and timelines.
  • Establish governance, best practices, and standards for how the organization uses its marketing technology, and provide training and documentation to colleagues who build or launch within the platforms.
Other Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned by Manager.
