Plum Good Marketing in Detroit is seeking a Marketing Project Manager who sharpens operations and people skills. You’ll run cross‑account projects, coordinate timelines, and ensure handoffs are smooth, while learning marketing tactics from Fractional CMOs.
You’ll be the second in command on accounts, owning task management, client updates, and vendor coordination, with a strong emphasis on accountability and process discipline.
Plum Good Marketing | adj: very good. worth having.™
Plum Good Marketing is hiring a Marketing Project Manager. You don't need a marketing background. You need to be great at projects and great with people, and we'll teach you the rest. We'd rather teach marketing to a great operator than teach operations to a marketer.
We sometimes describe ourselves as an ops company that happens to do marketing. Our clients are solid, growing businesses, mostly manufacturers and legacy companies, with marketing work happening everywhere and nobody leading it. We embed ourselves as their part‑time head of marketing: we set the strategy, help them define their brand, manage their vendors, sit on their leadership team, and stay accountable to the results. You'll support our Fractional CMOs across those accounts. They own the strategy and the client relationship. You own the machine underneath it: the tasks, the timelines, the handoffs, and the follow‑through that make Plum's promise of "clients never have to chase us" actually true.
This is a client‑facing role, and it's how you'll learn and grow: shoulder to shoulder with the Fractional CMO in client meetings, strategy, reporting, analysis, and campaign delivery. You're the strong number two who makes the whole account run.
We're a fractional CMO firm based in Metro Detroit. Our clients are generally growth‑ready manufacturers, EOS‑aligned leadership teams, and second‑generation business owners. They have execution happening everywhere and strategic marketing ownership nowhere, and that’s where we come in.
We're technically an agency, but we don't act like one. We operate inside our clients' businesses as the marketing department they always wished they had.
Our core values are very well thought out and actionable in everything we do. We came up with them as a team and they're the filters we use for hiring, operating, and choosing clients:
We're also operationally obsessed. We're proud to have clear workflows and actual SOPs. And, we love Asana, so much. Ours is built out with automations, dashboards, and portfolios, and we need people who think that structure is genuinely cool. We have written etiquette agreements for how we work together. We are utterly allergic to manufactured emergencies and chaos. If you read that paragraph and felt something, you'll probably love working with us.
We work remotely across different schedules. We assume positive intent. We don't do fire drills. We close on major holidays, run flexible PTO on a take‑what‑you‑need, cover‑each‑other basis, and keep roughly normal business hours without anyone watching a clock. Plum is woman‑owned and built deliberately as a place where people with full lives actually want to work. We hold each other accountable firmly and kindly. Full presence for our clients starts with full presence for ourselves.
We run on EOS internally. Level 10s, rocks, scorecards, V/TO. If those words mean nothing to you yet, that's ok, you'll learn them. If they're already part of your vocabulary, we love that too!
Your job is to make sure the work gets done well and on time across every account you touch. The work falls into four buckets:
You'll also pitch in hands‑on where you're useful: pulling research, drafting a first pass of copy, prepping materials for a meeting. Our specialists handle the production, so you're flexible and knowledgeable without ever being the bottleneck.
You probably look something like this:
Marketing knowledge is a plus, and so is EOS fluency. Neither is required. If you're strong on projects and people, we'll teach you the marketing stuff. A hospitality background is also a plus and not a coincidence: several of us came up through restaurants and hotels, and we believe it is part of the reason we're so successful building relationships with clients.
You'll work directly with our Fractional CMOs and our founder, who is close to every account. Plum has specialists across SEO and AI search, paid media, content, design, video, and operations, a dedicated ops owner who maintains our Asana structure, and clear SOPs for how work flows through the firm. You're not inventing or maintaining the system. You're working inside one that's already built.
You'll also be learning marketing strategy from the inside, sitting next to the people setting it, every day. We're a growing firm and we'd rather promote people who already know how we work than hire over them. Where that goes depends on you.
Structure: Full time, W-2 employment.
Benefits: Not yet. A formal benefits package is on Plum's roadmap as the company grows, but it isn't part of this offer.
PTO and Holidays: Flexible PTO on a take‑what‑you‑need, cover‑each‑other basis, and we close for all major holidays.
Schedule: Full time.
Location: Fully remote, no office to report to. We meet locally 2‑4 times a year for planning or content shoots, and we occasionally visit our clients on site as needed, so Metro Detroit is a preference, not a requirement.
