Job summary

Baker & Hostetler LLP is seeking a Marketing Manager for the Litigation Practice Group to support the firm’s 430+ lawyers. This exempt role reports to the Director of Business Development and focuses on Antitrust & Competition, Securities Governance, and White Collar teams.

You will manage RFPs, proposals, websites, client events, and communications initiatives, coordinating with practice leaders, marketing, PR, and HR to drive client development and firm visibility.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field with 6–8 years of professional services marketing experience.
  • Law-firm litigation marketing experience is highly desirable (Antitrust, Securities or White Collar).
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills to manage major projects and multitask.
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication abilities; client-focused service.

Responsibilities

  • Support the practice teams’ marketing efforts as outlined in strategic plans and client opportunities.
  • Help create website content, brochures, proposals, and marketing collateral.
  • Plan and execute client events, webinars, conferences, and sponsorships with budget oversight.
  • Coordinate RFP responses, pitch prep, and content gathering with attorneys and staff.
  • Track activity for reporting and assist with lateral attorney integration.

Overview

Our Marketing department has an excellent opportunity for a Marketing Manager for the Litigation Practice Group. This exempt position reports directly to the Director of Business Development and supports the firm’s 430+ lawyer Litigation Group, primarily the Antitrust & Competition Team, Securities Governance and Litigation Team, and White Collar Investigations & Securities Enforcement and Litigation Team.

Responsibilities
  • Support the practice teams’ marketing efforts as outlined in their strategic plans, including organizing monthly team meetings and working with team leaders to identify and pursue client opportunities and reputation building activities that will make the teams more profitable.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of the legal market and the litigation capabilities of the firm nationwide, applying this knowledge to maximize the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
  • Manage relevant RFP/proposal responses and pitch meeting preparations, including gathering and analyzing existing materials, providing competitive intelligence, identifying and gathering firmwide human resources and financial information, liaising with attorneys to write new content, managing proofreading, coordinating approvals, and coordinating printing and delivery.
  • Collaborate with the practice team leaders, partners, and marketing personnel to create, maintain, and update website content, brochures, practice profiles, announcements, proposal database information, and other marketing collateral.
  • Plan and execute practice team client events such as webinars, conferences, speaking engagements, memberships, sponsorships and other events—veting opportunities, managing budget, site selection, invitations, ad production, logistics, site set‑up, CLE planning and follow‑up.
  • Work closely with the Public Relations and Communications teams to identify and leverage media opportunities, publish client alerts, and support firm blogs.
  • Liaise with the Communications Team to prepare Chambers, Legal 500 and other submissions for rankings and directories.
  • Track practice and service activity, including collecting matter summaries for the department’s experience database and directory reporting efforts.
  • Support integration of lateral attorneys, including bio creation and posting, firm photo, press release and intranet story, announcements, community database, business development planning, and contacts integration.
  • Stay abreast of news about client development targets to suggest opportunities and approaches for client expansion or market penetration; conduct research in tandem with the Competitive Intelligence team and contribute to monthly client development activity reports.
  • Respond to requests and questions from lawyers, administrative staff and vendors; provide excellent customer service and follow‑through on requests to ensure needs are met.
  • Assist the Litigation Group Chair and Director of Business Development with Litigation group‑wide practice development projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field with 6‑8 years of experience in professional services marketing; law firm litigation experience working with Antitrust, Securities Litigation and/or White Collar practices highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); aptitude for learning new software.
  • Extremely high levels of attention to detail, strong legal writing and proofreading skills; excellent organizational and planning skills to manage major projects, multitask, and prioritize.
  • Comfortable managing tight deadlines without compromising quality in a fast‑paced environment; proactive and innovative in client service for partners.
  • Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills; ability to speak effectively and respond to inquiries from all levels of clients, attorneys, and staff; interpersonal skills for maintaining effective relationships.

The expected annual salary for this position ranges from $140,000–160,000. The salary offered will be determined by a wide range of factors including but not limited to experience level, education/training, and relevant skills.
