Job summary

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in marketing and digital campaigns.
  • Proven track record in multi-channel campaigns across email, social, search, and display.
  • Experience with audience acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, and contracts.
  • Strong project management skills; familiarity with PM tools.
  • People management experience preferred.
  • Nonprofit, workforce-development, or criminal-justice marketing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Manager, Marketing
Hybrid-2 Days in Office

The Opportunity

In collaboration with the Vice President of Communications, the Manager of Marketing is responsible for supporting the development of, managing, and executing CEO’s organization-wide marketing strategy across email, social media, paid advertising, search, and other digital channels. This role grows CEO’s audiences, increases awareness of its programs, initiatives, and products, and develops targeted marketing campaigns that advance CEO’s programmatic, fundraising, advocacy, and organizational goals.

This role oversees campaign planning and execution, audience segmentation, email marketing, social media, digital advertising, content distribution, and performance measurement.

This role works closely with internal teams to translate organizational priorities into integrated campaigns that reach the right audiences with compelling messages and clear calls to action.

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

Who You Are

  • You have 3+ years of experience in marketing, digital marketing, audience engagement, or related field
  • You have a proven track record planning and executing integrated, multi-channel digital campaigns (email, paid/organic social media, search, display), including experience with:
    • Managing organic and paid social media campaigns
    • Building strategies for audience acquisition, engagement, conversion, and retention strategies
    • Managing search marketing, search engine optimization, landing pages, and digital campaign optimization
  • You have experience managing marketing budgets, vendors, and contracts
  • You have strong project management skills and experience with project management platforms
  • Preferred:
    • You have people management experience
    • You have experience in nonprofit, workforce-development, economic-mobility, or criminal-justice experience or experience marketing nonprofit programs, social-impact initiatives, direct services, or technology products
    • You have experience with Salesforce, marketing automation, or fundraising platforms
    • You have experience with Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, LinkedIn Campaign Manager, or similar platforms

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

These responsibilities are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the responsibilities of this role:

Marketing Strategy Management and Execution

  • Manage the development and execution of CEO’s organization-wide marketing strategy across email, social media, paid advertising, search, and other digital channels
  • Lead marketing efforts and integrated campaigns that increase awareness and support for CEO’s programmatic, fundraising, advocacy, and organizational goals
  • Partner with internal teams to establish campaign objectives, audiences, messages, timelines, budgets, and measures of success
  • Manage marketing-related budgets, vendors, consultants, contracts, and scopes of work using internal project management tools such as Monday.com
  • Prepare campaign briefs, proposals, presentations, and marketing performance reports for executive leadership, funders, and other key stakeholders.

Email Marketing and Audience Development

  • Lead CEO’s email marketing strategies, including audience growth, segmentation, campaign development, automation, testing, and performance analysis
  • Manage the strategy and production of email communications, including newsletters, fundraising appeals, advocacy campaigns, program promotions, and targeted constituent journeys
  • Identify and segment priority audiences, including program participants, employers, donors, policymakers, partner organizations, and the general public
  • Develop targeted email journeys that engage different audiences and encourage action
  • Grow email lists and improve subscriber acquisition, engagement, retention, and conversion
  • Establish standards and best practices for email frequency, design, content, accessibility, and CRM/platform integrations, using testing and performance data to improve messaging, targeting, calls to action, and campaign results

Paid Advertising, Search, and Social Media

  • Implement paid advertising and SEM strategies across search, social, display, and digital channels, optimizing budgets and targeting to drive recruitment, fundraising, and awareness
  • Oversee CEO’s social media presence, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and other relevant platforms, directing platform-specific growth strategies, content calendars, publishing, and audience engagement
  • Monitor advertising and social media performance and use insights to strengthen targeting, content, cadence, and spending
  • Manage campaign budgets, targeting, content development, placement, testing, optimization, and reporting
  • Lead CEO’s search engine marketing and search engine optimization strategies
  • Manage CEO’s social media calendar and coordinate content with broader communications and marketing campaigns

Content Distribution and Performance

  • Coordinate marketing activity across CEO’s website, email, social media, paid media, and partner channels to ensure brand consistency and accessibility
  • Partner with communications staff and creative vendors to produce high-impact content, advertisements, and landing pages needed for effective campaigns
  • Develop distribution strategies that maximize the reach and impact of CEO’s stories, reports, videos, events, and campaign materials
  • Ensure that marketing content is accessible, accurate, audience-centered, and consistent with CEO’s messaging and brand standards
  • Establish key performance indicators and analyze email, social media, advertising, search, website, and conversion data, communicating performance and translating data into actionable recommendations
  • Advise and train CEO staff and local site teams on marketing and social media best practices

Team Leadership and Support

  • Manage and coach a small team, establishing clear priorities, workflows, performance expectations, and accountability
  • Provide opportunities for team to strengthen their marketing, analytics, content-development, and project-management skills
  • Manage Emerging Leaders Program members assigned to the marketing track and/or fellows/interns, providing structured, on-the-job training
  • Foster a collaborative, creative, inclusive, and results-oriented team culture
  • Maintain CEO’s marketing calendar and project management tools
  • Coordinate campaign intake, prioritization, production, review, approval, and distribution

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $73,000-$92,000/annually. CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors including experience, internal equity, and the labor market associated with the city in which the position is located. The labor markets associated with the cities in which CEO is based are variable, and the salary range included here reflects this. Our salary offer will fall within this range and will be reflective of the labor market of the city in which the position is based, as well the other factors named above.

We recognize that salary is a part of the overall compensation package and also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, as well as professional development opportunities to our staff.
