Job Title: Marketing Director – North America

Company: Motiv Sports (for The Color Run)

Location: United States (Remote with Travel Required)

Reports to: Managing Director, The Color Run

About the Role

Motiv Sports is hiring a results-driven Marketing Director to lead all marketing strategy and execution for The Color Run across North America. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker and creative executor with a passion for live events, community building, and brand storytelling.

As Marketing Director, you will oversee campaign development, team leadership, brand messaging, and performance marketing to drive event registrations and national brand engagement. You'll report directly to the Managing Director of The Color Run business unit at Motiv Sports while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders at The Color Run.

About The Color Run

The Color Run, also known as “The Happiest 5K on the Planet,” is the world’s largest event series focused on health, happiness, and community. Participants experience a unique, color-splashed run/walk that celebrates individuality and joy. The brand has reached over 8 million runners in 40+ countries since its founding in 2011.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a North America-wide marketing strategy that supports business goals and event performance targets.
  • Lead a small, agile marketing team and external partners to execute campaigns with excellence.
  • Manage marketing budget and track KPIs for ROI, engagement, and ticket sales.

Digital & Performance Marketing

  • Oversee digital campaigns (paid social, search, email, SEO/SEM) to optimize customer acquisition.
  • Manage CRM and automation tools to build and segment The Color Run community.
  • Leverage analytics and data to inform decisions and continuously improve outcomes.

Brand & Creative Oversight

  • Ensure consistency in messaging and visual identity across all touchpoints.
  • Collaborate with design and content teams to produce high-quality, on-brand creative.
  • Guide video, photo, and content production for campaigns and social platforms.

Social Media & Community Engagement

  • Drive social growth and engagement across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
  • Activate grassroots and influencer strategies to generate buzz and UGC.
  • Develop shareable content that captures the spirit of The Color Run.

Event & Local Marketing

  • Partner with the Events team to plan and execute regional market promotions.
  • Support PR efforts and onsite activations to maximize visibility and media exposure.
  • Attend select events as needed to oversee marketing performance on the ground.

Partnership & Sponsor Marketing

  • Collaborate with sponsorship teams to deliver value through integrated campaigns and partner exposure.
  • Support co-branded initiatives with sponsors and other brand collaborators.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in consumer marketing, ideally in events, sports, fitness, or lifestyle sectors.
  • Strong digital and performance marketing knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, creative, and collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically (~10–20%) during the event season.

Bonus Skills

  • Familiarity with ticketing platforms (e.g., Eventbrite, Race Roster, Ticket Socket, Let’s Do This)
  • Experience with Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads, HubSpot, Klaviyo, or similar platforms
