About Key to Change

Key to Change's mission is to inspire underserved youth through world-class music instruction and support their development as self-aware leaders.

As a nonprofit music education organization, Key to Change provides violin and viola instruction, performance opportunities, mentorship, leadership development, and educational experiences designed to help young people develop confidence, discipline, artistry, and a greater sense of possibility for their futures.

We believe excellence matters not only in what we provide our students, but also in how we communicate, build relationships, serve our community, and steward the people who invest in our mission.

About the Role

The Marketing & Digital Engagement Manager leads Key to Change's day‑to‑day marketing, digital advertising, social media, website, SEO, visual brand, and multimedia content efforts. This is not simply a social media or content manager position. We are looking for someone who understands how great marketing works: how to capture attention, tell compelling stories, understand audience behavior, build trust, and move people from awareness to action.

Key Responsibilities
Marketing Strategy & Audience Growth | 25%
  • Implement Key to Change's marketing strategy across digital and traditional channels.
  • Translate organizational priorities into marketing strategies, campaigns, and measurable outcomes.
  • Build campaigns that increase awareness, prospective student inquiries, enrollment, donor engagement, event participation, and community visibility.
  • Understand Key to Change's audiences and develop journeys that move people from awareness to interest, engagement, and conversion.
  • Apply principles of consumer behavior, including urgency, relevance, trust, social proof, personalization, and strong calls to action.
  • Establish measurable campaign goals, evaluate performance, and identify opportunities to expand Key to Change's reach.
Digital Advertising, SEO & Conversion | 20%
  • Plan, execute, monitor, and optimize paid digital advertising across platforms such as Google, Meta, and YouTube.
  • Manage advertising budgets and evaluate cost per lead, conversion rates, return on advertising spend, and other performance indicators.
  • Manage Key to Change's SEO strategy, including keyword research and optimization of website pages, program descriptions, content, and metadata.
  • Develop landing pages and conversion pathways for enrollment, events, fundraising campaigns, and other priorities.
  • Use analytics to understand audience behavior, identify points of friction, and improve performance.
Social Media & Content Strategy | 20%
  • Lead Key to Change's social media strategy and manage its presence across appropriate platforms.
  • In partnership with the Communications and Development Manager establish an editorial and content calendar aligned with enrollment, fundraising, events, student accomplishments, partnerships, and major announcements.
  • Write and develop engaging social media content that reflects Key to Change's voice and brand.
  • Create concepts for short-form video, advertisements, student stories, interviews, reels, photography, and other multimedia content.
  • Work closely with Key to Change's content creator to plan shoots, develop concepts, identify stories, and turn content into compelling marketing assets.
  • Monitor engagement and audience behavior and use those insights to continually improve strategy.
Website & Digital Experience | 15%
  • Oversee the day-to-day content and marketing performance of the Key to Change website.
  • Create and update webpages, landing pages, program information, calls to action, images, and other content.
  • Ensure the website remains accurate, visually compelling, easy to navigate, and responsive to the needs of prospective students, parents, donors, and community members.
  • Use website analytics and conversion data to identify and implement improvements.
Brand, Graphic Design & Creative Direction | 10%
  • Maintain and strengthen Key to Change's visual identity across digital and print materials.
  • Design or oversee the creation of advertisements, digital graphics, flyers, promotional materials, presentations, signage, and campaign assets.
  • Develop creative concepts that are visually compelling and consistent with Key to Change's brand.
  • Provide creative direction to photographers, videographers, content creators, designers, animators, and other contractors as needed.
Presto & Multimedia Marketing | 5%
  • Lead the creative development and ongoing use of Presto, Key to Change's new animated character, as a distinctive part of the organization's public-facing brand.
  • Develop concepts, scripts, storyboards, and campaigns featuring Presto for major announcements, student recruitment, program education, and organizational storytelling.
  • Coordinate with animators, content creators, and other creative partners to produce Presto content.
Collaboration & Campaign Integration | 5%
  • Work closely with the Communications & Development Manager to ensure marketing supports fundraising, donor engagement, enrollment, and organizational communications.
  • Coordinate marketing campaigns with email, fundraising, website, and CRM strategies.
  • Work with program staff to identify compelling student stories, accomplishments, recruitment needs, and upcoming opportunities.
  • Participate in organization-wide planning for major campaigns, events, and announcements.
What Success Looks Like
  • Increased qualified prospective student and family inquiries generated through digital channels.
  • Improved website traffic and conversion from visits to meaningful action.
  • Established measurable benchmarks for advertising, SEO, social media, and digital campaigns.
  • Improved Key to Change's organic search visibility.
  • Built a consistent, high-quality content pipeline featuring students, programs, partnerships, instructors, and organizational impact.
  • Strengthened the connection between marketing activity and enrollment, fundraising, and audience growth.
  • Maintained a recognizable and consistent visual identity across Key to Change's marketing.
  • Developed Presto into a thoughtful and recognizable component of Key to Change's public brand.
  • Demonstrated through data which marketing investments are producing meaningful results and where strategy should be adjusted.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, communications, advertising, public relations, business, design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience in marketing, digital marketing, advertising, brand management, content marketing, e-commerce, communications, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing significant marketing initiatives from strategy and concept through execution, measurement, and optimization.
  • Demonstrated success generating measurable outcomes such as customer acquisition, enrollment, qualified leads, donations, registrations, or sales.
  • Experience with paid digital advertising, social media, websites, digital analytics, and a strong working knowledge of SEO.
  • Strong writing, editing, visual judgment, and demonstrated graphic design capabilities.
  • Experience developing creative concepts for video, photography, advertising, or multimedia campaigns.
  • Ability to interpret campaign data and make decisions based on performance.
  • Experience managing budgets, vendors, contractors, timelines, and competing priorities with limited day-to-day supervision.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for occasional travel to Key to Change programs, events, schools, and community activities.

Experience with nonprofit organizations, education, arts and culture, youth development, Google Ads, Meta Ads Manager, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, WordPress, Mailchimp, Salesforce, photography, video, and conversion testing is a plus.

The Person We're Looking For

You don't have to come from the nonprofit world. You might come from digital marketing, e-commerce, advertising, consumer brands, education, media, entertainment, public relations, an agency, or another environment where your job was to understand people and motivate them to act.

What matters is that you are curious about audiences, excited by great ideas, visually creative, comfortable with data, and motivated by results. You understand that effective marketing begins with knowing who you are speaking to and respecting their intelligence, experiences, and aspirations.

You should have an appreciation for young people, education, the arts, and the role classical music can play in opening doors and expanding possibilities. This position is best suited for an experienced marketing professional who has already developed a strong foundation in their craft. We will teach you Key to Change: our mission, students, programs, communities, voice, and aspirations. We are looking for someone who will bring the marketing expertise, professional judgment, creative confidence, and experience necessary to help us reach the next level.

Schedule & Working Environment

This is a full-time, primarily on-site position based at our Renton studio.

The schedule is designed to provide consistent work during Key to Change's primary afternoon and evening student programming hours. Occasional schedule adjustments may be required for concerts, special programs, or organizational events, with advance notice whenever possible.

This position involves frequent interaction with students, families, instructors, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate should be comfortable spending most of their workday in a busy, active studio environment.
