Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Graphic Design, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, nonprofit development, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with social media management, content creation, graphic design, and digital communications.
  • Experience supporting fundraising, donor relations, community outreach, or special events preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain marketing materials that promote SIHC's programs, services, events, fundraising campaigns, and organizational initiatives.
  • Design branded visual assets including flyers, brochures, banners, signage, presentations, advertisements, direct mail pieces, promotional products, and educational materials.
  • Write and edit content for newsletters, press releases, blogs, web pages, donor communications, and marketing campaigns.
  • Ensure all communications adhere to organizational branding standards and messaging guidelines.
  • Maintain an organized library of digital marketing assets, photographs, videos, logos, and templates.
  • Coordinate printing and production of marketing and promotional materials.
  • Photograph organizational events, community programs, cultural activities, fundraising events, and other special initiatives.
  • Edit and organize photographs for use in print, digital, social media, website, and fundraising materials.
  • Create, film, and edit short-form and long-form video content that supports marketing, health education, community engagement, fundraising, and storytelling.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Marketing & Development Specialist supports the day-to-day execution of Southern Indian Health Council's marketing, communications, philanthropy, and community engagement activities. This position is responsible for creating and distributing content across digital and traditional platforms, maintaining organizational marketing assets, supporting donor stewardship efforts, assisting with fundraising initiatives, and coordinating communications that promote SIHC's mission, programs, services, and impact.

Under the direction of the Marketing & Development Manager, the Marketing & Development Specialist helps strengthen community awareness, donor engagement, and organizational visibility through creative content, effective communication, donor relations support, and event coordination.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Marketing & Communications

  • Create and maintain marketing materials that promote SIHC's programs, services, events, fundraising campaigns, and organizational initiatives.
  • Design branded visual assets including flyers, brochures, banners, signage, presentations, advertisements, direct mail pieces, promotional products, and educational materials.

Photography, Video Production & Content Creation

  • Photograph organizational events, community programs, cultural activities, fundraising events, and other special initiatives.
  • Edit and organize photographs for use in print, digital, social media, website, and fundraising materials.
  • Create, film, and edit short-form and long-form video content that supports marketing, health education, community engagement, fundraising, and organizational storytelling efforts.
  • Develop creative multimedia content that supports donor engagement and public awareness initiatives.
  • Assist with production and promotion of organizational podcasts, interviews, and multimedia projects as assigned.

Social Media & Digital Engagement

  • Manage and maintain SIHC social media platforms, including content scheduling, publishing, monitoring, and engagement.
  • Develop social media content calendars that align with organizational priorities, awareness campaigns, fundraising efforts, and community events.
  • Write captions and create original content following approved messaging and branding standards.
  • Monitor social media performance and prepare basic analytics reports.
  • Assist with digital advertising campaigns under the direction of the Marketing & Development Manager.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, and nonprofit marketing best practices.

Website, Email Marketing & Digital Communications

  • Maintain and update SIHC's website to ensure timely, accurate, and engaging content.
  • Assist with website content development, event promotion, fundraising pages, and program updates.
  • Create and distribute email newsletters, promotional emails, fundraising appeals, and SMS communication campaigns.
  • Support search engine optimization (SEO) and digital communication best practices.
  • Ensure information across digital platforms remains accurate, accessible, and consistent with organizational branding.

Development & Donor Relations Support

  • Support donor stewardship activities through preparation and distribution of donor acknowledgment letters, thank-you communications, and related correspondence.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate donor records and constituent information within the organization's donor management system.
  • Help track donations, sponsorships, pledges, and fundraising activities.
  • Conduct prospect and donor research to support fundraising initiatives.
  • Assist with donor, sponsor, and community partner communications as assigned.
  • Support fundraising campaigns by developing promotional materials, donor communications, and campaign content.
  • Generate routine reports and provide administrative support for development activities.

Event Planning & Community Engagement

  • Assist with planning, promotion, coordination, and execution of fundraising events, community events, health fairs, conferences, and organizational activities.
  • Support event registration, communication, logistics, and volunteer coordination as assigned.
  • Coordinate event marketing materials and promotional efforts.
  • Capture event photography and content for future marketing and development use.
  • Assist with post-event communications, reporting, and donor stewardship activities.

Project Management & Administrative Support

  • Support implementation of departmental work plans, campaigns, and projects.
  • Track deadlines and assist with project coordination to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Assist with vendor communication and procurement of marketing-related products and services.
  • Maintain organization and documentation of development and marketing projects.
  • Work a flexible schedule when necessary to support events, evening or weekend activities, or organizational initiatives.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all SIHC policies & procedures.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule may be required based onneed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Graphic Design, or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in marketing, communications, fundraising, nonprofit development, public relations, or a related field preferred. Experience with social media management, content creation, graphic design, and digital communications. Experience supporting fundraising, donor relations, community outreach, or special events preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must have photography, videography, content creation, and editing skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, website management platforms, email marketing systems, social media tools, and photo/video editing software. Experience with donor databases, CRM systems, or constituent management platforms preferred. Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain strong attention to detail.Must be at least 18 years old.

Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment. Applicant must be able to travel throughout the organization’s service area including all SIHC site locations.Current certifications and/or licenses appropriate to the positions required education and profession.

Physical and Personal Requirements: Normal clinic/office environment. Sit or stand for long periods of time. Reach, bend, climb, stoop, lift up to 25 lbs. repetitive hand movement; use and view PC. Reliable transportation and car insurance as required by the state. Travel as needed.

Compliance: Each employee plays a key role in creating a compliance culture at SIHC. Employees are expected to learn and comply with all SIHC policies and procedures. One must have the ability to understand the implications and complexities of all compliance policies. Participation in all compliance training is mandatory, and generally has a heightened awareness of policies and regulations that are specific to one’s department and position. All SIHC employees are expected to report violations or suspected violations of compliance policies or regulations.

Other:Applicants must successfully pass a pre-screening tuberculin skin test or x-ray and a blood/urine drug screening test. Health must be adequate to perform all duties of the position. Applicants must complete SIHC Application and Authorization Form, both must be submitted to Human Resources prior to the close date indicated.
