Position Information

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Coordinator assists with all marketing and communications activities and events of the UCR School of Education (SOE), in support of its academic programs and its affiliated area groups. This role will assist with creative content, drafting of marketing and communication plans, measurement and analysis, copy writing, graphic design, email marketing, web content management, social media management, digital advertising, photography, videography, and event planning, promotion, and execution. Requires working occasional weekends and evenings for signature events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of racial literacy given that UCR is an HSI and AANAPISI institution, situated in the Inland Empire. They will be able to align Marketing priorities with the SOE mission: The University of California, Riverside's School of Education, or SOE, is a nationally recognized school in a public research university that leverages its broad range of expertise to develop impactful partnerships, collaborations, and evidence-based resources fundamental for teaching, learning, and student success. Located in a region rich in racial and linguistic diversity, yet challenged by economic and social inequities, SOE serves a diverse student population, much of which is comprised of students of color, low-income students, and first-generation college students. SOE's mission is to advance equitable educational systems and practices which are driven by core values of equity, evidence, excellence, community, critical thinking, and compassion. Additionally, we prioritize recognizing, honoring, and working with the people of the region to create transformative opportunities and advance our respective fields in education. This position is eligible for hybrid work. The full salary range for the Marketing Coordinator is $57,691.44 - $99,305.28 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $65,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. As a University employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

  • Written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards/procedures.
  • Familiarity with design and production applications such Canva, iMovie, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to effectively work with various clients such as faculty, staff, students, and guest speakers, showcasing customer service orientation and utmost professionalism in attire and demeanor.
  • Solid knowledge of web content management.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Solid knowledge of institutional products and services.
  • Solid knowledge of Mac OSX, iOS, and/or Android operating systems.
  • Organizational skills and skills in file creation, maintenance and management.
  • Solid knowledge of social media communication, i.e. Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn.
  • Solid knowledge of marketing principles, concepts, strategies and best practices.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of concepts, principles, and practices of event planning, including event design, organization, and production.
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of productivity in a fast-paced environment despite frequent interruptions. Ability to complete a large volume of diverse tasks efficiently and simultaneously, with great detail orientation, meeting established deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Mailchimp or other email marketing programs, and Eventbrite, or other RSVP systems.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
  • Experience working with a diverse group of community members, which may include students, faculty, and staff, and commitment to inclusive practices in marketing. Must be able to keep current with best marketing practices that align with SOE's values and mission.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Eventbrite or other RSVP management tools.
  • Knowledge of the campus and/or medical center including its achievements, mission, vision, goals, objectives and infrastructure.
