Job description

At Gardner, we believe commercial construction should feel as welcoming as it is professional. That’s why we don’t just build and renovate; we build relationships rooted in hospitality. Our mission is to set the platinum standard for our clients, partners, and team members by delivering exceptional results while embodying our core values: passion, humility, excellence, empathy, and nimbleness. We bring a hospitality-driven approach to every project, ensuring that every interaction is thoughtful, responsive, and human-centered.

Who You Are

You are a curious storyteller who knows how to find the heart of a story and bring it to life. You’re an exceptional writer and thoughtful editor who enjoys translating people’s experiences, project details, and big ideas into content that feels clear, authentic, and engaging.

You bring creativity, initiative, and follow-through to your work. Whether you’re writing a project story, updating a webpage, planning an email campaign, or coordinating a video shoot, you know how to keep the details moving while staying connected to the bigger picture. You enjoy collaborating with others, asking good questions while staying curious, and creating repeatable ways to share stories that deserve to be told.

How You’ll Contribute
  • Bring Gardner’s stories to life
through website copy, project narratives, social content, email campaigns, printed materials, and internal communications while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
  • Build a repeatable approach to project storytelling, gathering each story’s key details and adapting them for case studies, proposals, sales materials, project guidebooks, and industry award submissions.
  • Keep our website current and useful
by managing day-to-day content, establishing an update cadence, and applying SEO best practices and keyword research to improve visibility.
  • Execute proactive social media and email programs, managing content planning, publishing, campaigns, and contact lists in alignment with brand and business priorities.
  • Support paid marketing efforts
by partnering with the Marketing Director and external partners on campaign briefs, messaging, creative assets, timelines, and spending.
  • Coordinate video storytelling alongside the Creative Lead, developing scripts, storyboards, shot lists, and production schedules while managing review cycles, final delivery, and our video library.
  • Turn insights into stronger content
by monitoring website, social, email, and paid campaign performance and using client feedback to inform storytelling and communication priorities.
  • Keep work organized and moving
by managing timelines, communicating with partners across our Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Duluth hubs, and improving processes that support marketing and business development.
What Success Looks Like
  • Gardner’s people, projects, culture, and client experience are represented through compelling content that feels distinctly Gardner.
  • Content priorities support our brand, business development, and growth objectives.
  • Meaningful stories are identified proactively and shared across multiple channels.
  • Our website stays accurate, relevant, and current through a dependable content management rhythm.
  • Social and email programs build audience engagement through thoughtful planning and consistent execution.
  • Performance insights lead to practical improvements in content, reach, and marketing effectiveness.
  • Projects move forward with clear communication, reliable follow-through, and attention to quality.
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, digital marketing, or a related field.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, supported by a portfolio or relevant writing samples.
  • Experience creating digital and print content, managing website updates, and executing proactive social media and email programs.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of SEO, keyword research, website analytics, and paid digital marketing.
  • The ability to interpret performance data and turn it into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Proficiency with content management systems, social scheduling tools, email marketing platforms, and Google Workspace.
  • Availability to work in person in downtown Minneapolis and comfort visiting active construction sites for occasional video shoots and content coordination
  • Openness to light travel (generally under 5%) for conferences, events, or visits to other Gardner offices, typically planned well in advance and with flexibility to accommodate personal and family needs.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience in construction, architecture, engineering, B2B, or another professional services environment.
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or a similar CRM or marketing automation platform.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
